Slumdog Millionaire Stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto Dating

Slumdog Millionaire Stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto Dating

Its been confirmed that there is a romantic relationship between Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. The Slumdog Millionaire romance has been heating up on Pinto’s latest movie set in Israel. There have been rumors of romance between Slumdog Millionaire stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto earlier this year while they were promoting their Oscar winning movie. The two Indian stars denied the rumors at the time. Lately, they’ve been spotted enjoying some serious public displays of affection and enjoying strolls along the harbor in Tel Aviv. Ms. Pinto is in Jerusalem, Israel filming her latest movie, a Julian Schnabel drama ‘Miral’.

The rumors of their relationship started while they filming their Academy Awarding winning movie, in which the characters they played were romantically involved. Then the gossip got stronger when earlier this year Pinto dumped her fiancé, public relations exec Rohan Antao. During that same period of time, 19-year-old Patel and 24-year-old Pinto were promoting their movie and Anil Kapoor, one of the Slumdog co-stars, said that the couple had a ‘magical chemistry’.

Now, Patel’s mother, Anita Patel (45-years-old) has confirmed the relationship and that her son flew to Israel to see the oh so hot and possible future Bond Girl Freida Pinto. She seems very happy with the arrangement.Dev Patel’s mother has confirmed he is dating his Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto — just days after the couple were caught kissing during a romantic night out in Israel. The actors, who played childhood sweethearts in the Oscar-winning movie, have repeatedly dismissed rumours they are dating off screen, even after their co-star Anil Kapoor hinted they were an item.

Speculation of a romance gained strength earlier this month after the pair was snapped enjoying a few tender moments during a romantic dinner in Tel Aviv, Israel where Pinto is filming new movie Miral. And now the 18-year-old actor’s mum Anita has announced the happy news that the couple is blissfully in love. She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, “First it was the film and now everything else seems to have slotted into place. “Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them. Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her.”

Oscars Best Picture is Slumdog Millionaire (VIDEO)

Oscars Best Picture is Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire wins the best picture at the Academy Awards 2009. See the video trailer below and take the time to catch up with the other Best Picture nominees this year! The Academy Awards are fast approaching, so take a few minutes to get to know the five great films nominated for Best Picture.

Slumdog Millionaire, which is nominated for Oscars in 10 different categories, seems to be the clear favorite based on all the pre-Oscars award shows. The British flick is about a boy who grew up in the slums of Mumbai, India and gets the chance of a lifetime as a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.” He is one question away from the big payout when the show must break for the evening. Officials are suspicious of how a nobody could have made it so far on the show, and they suspect him of cheating. The movie takes you on a tour of the boy’s life as he defends himself against the accusations.

Frost/Nixon, up for five Oscars, is, obviously, about American President Richard Nixon. The dialogue-heavy film, directed by Ron Howard, covers a series of interviews between Nixon and a British television presenter. The interviews take place several years after Nixon became the first President to resign from office. Critics say the film is both well-acted and well-written, and it has received a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Frank Langella scored himself a Best Actor nod for his role in the movie.

The Reader, also up for five Oscars, stars Kate Winslet. The film is about a secret love affair been a 15 year old boy and a much older woman that takes place in post WWII Germany. The odd couple met when the older woman assisted the young boy in recovering from scarlet fever. When he seeks her out to thank her for her kindness, a relationship blossoms, sparked by her love of him reading to her from various classics (hence the title). The woman mysteriously disappears after their affair, but turns up in the young boys life eight years later.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, up for a staggering 13 Oscars, stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Another period piece, this takes place as WWI is ending in New Orleans, Louisiana. Brad Pitt’s character is a bit of an oddity, as he ages backwards throughout his life. Brad earned a Best Actor nod for the film, and Taraji P. Henson is up for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Benjamin’s caretaker. Cate Blanchett plays Daisy, Benjamin’s love interest, who recounts the story of his life to her daughter through Benjamin’s diary.

Milk, nominated for eight Oscars, chronicles the life of Harvey Milk (Sean Penn), and his attempt to become the first openly gay elected official. Very relevant to today’s political climate, the film picks up with Milk’s 40th birthday and follows him until his untimely death. He leaves the closet and New York for San Francisco, and helps the growing gay community fight for their rights. His activism eventually turned to political aspirations as he runs for office. Whether in office or not, Milk became a voice for the gay community as he fought for rights against national anti-gay crusades. Penn scored himself a Best Actor nod for his portrayal of Milk.

Freida Pinto Starring In Slumdog Millionaire

Freida Pinto Starring In Slumdog Millionaire
"The first time I read with the casting director and the second time on it was with Danny," Pinto recalled. "I would go in probably once a month, sometimes twice a month and every time I'd go in for an audition Danny would say, 'Fantastic. I'll see you again.' So every time he says that I'd say, 'Okay, maybe in three days.' 30 days! He'd just keep me waiting for 30 days. I think every time I went in was fun. I'm not complaining because I think it was literally like going to an acting school and I think it was necessary because since I had absolutely no acting experience besides the amateur theatre that I've done."

Two younger actors play Latika at earlier ages, so she drew from that work. However, most of the adult Latika was intuitive from the script. "I read the script first and I read little Latika's part. I was like, 'That's the character. That's the Latika that I can relate to because she's a spicy, stubborn girl. She's got this zest for life and she's playful.' She's a fighter and the moment you come to the girl in the middle, she automatically gets submissive and she's kind of grown before her time. She's 14 but she looks like she could be 18, 20. So it was really important to watch the kids to see how they had grown so I could grow beyond that as well. So Danny had already shot scenes with the two characters and I watched it and it was such an immense amount of pressure because they were so good. They just seemed so effortless. It just makes it kind of simpler to have watched it, so the growth seems not disconnected. It just seems fluid."

The film ends with a Bollywood style dance number, though the film is not a musical. Just getting one moment to let loose was fun. "I loved it. I read the script and the script said, 'And the whole train station bursts into song and dance.' We thought it was a metaphor so it was not really going to happen. When Danny said, 'You know you're actually going to dance?' I jumped up and said, 'Yea! I'm excited. Let's dance.' Because I am from India and Bollywood has such a strong element of song and dance in every film. Dev was just, 'Oh my god, I can't do this. I'm a Brit boy.' Everyone is going to make fun of him when he goes back to England. It was fun for me because I thought dance is such a great form of expression, and just growing up there and letting loose and losing all your inhibitions was such a fun thing."
