As a biography, Joanne Woodward was born February 27, 1930 in Thomasville, Georgia, so her age is 78. She went to college at Louisiana State University where she took part in several stage productions. After college she moved to New York, where she continued her work in theater. In 1953, she signed on as the understudy for the 1953 Broadway play “Picnic”. Here she met Paul Newman, and the two fell in love.In 1960, Joanne became the first actress to have a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Since then she has starred in many films and television programs, as her successful acting career continues to this day. She and Paul starred together in several films.

Joanne and Paul celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2008. They were married in Las Vegas on January 29, 1958, and they have three daughters. They are one of very few Hollywood couples that have lasted through the years - a real romance. Of her marriage, Joanne has said,“Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat.”

Paul and Joanne spent many years of their lives giving back and working with charitable organizations. Although it’s hard to make a difference in all the causes you believe in, she says,“An activist is someone who makes an effort to see problems that are not being addressed and then makes an effort to make their voice heard. Sometimes there are so many things that it’s almost impossible to make your voice heard in every area, but you can sure try.”In 2000, Joanne took over as co-chair of the artistic advisory board of the Westport Country Playhouse. Alot of the money from Newman’s Own has been used to create a string of ‘Hole in the Wall Gang’ Camps, named for the outlaw gang in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” The camps provide free summer recreation for children with cancer and other life threatening llnesses. Paul Newman was actively involved in the project, even choosing cowboy hats as gear so that children who had lost their hair because of chemotherapy could disguise their baldness.Based in Westport, CT, Newman’s Own is operated by Nell Newman, the daughter of Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward. Paul Newman Near Death

Paul Newman left the hospital last week in order to die at home with his family around him. Newman’s battle with cancer has been in the news the past few months.Paul Newman, the legendary actor of films such as “Cool Hand Luke” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” is reportedly near death. He was being treated at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. However, he decided to leave there in order to go home because he did not want to die in a hospital. He left the hospital in a wheel chair. Paul Newman has been preparing for his death by putting his affairs in order. He was also reported seen in a wheelchair last month.Our thoughts are with Paul Newman and his family. He will live on in his many movies that people will watch and enjoy from now on.

Paul Leonard Newman was born on January 26, 1925, and his age is 83 years. He was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He is 5′ 9 1/2″ tall. His father was Arthur Newman, a successful sporting goods store owner. His mother’s name was Theresa. Paul Newman acted in various plays during elementary school and high school. He was kicked out of Ohio University because of unruly behavior. He then joined the Navy where he served as a radio operator for three years. After being discharged from the Navy in 1946, he enrolled at Kenyon College and later graduated. He married his first wife, Jackie, and they had a child, Scott. He attended Yale Drama School for a year before heading to New York where he attended the famed New York Actors Studio.

Paul Newman had classic good looks with blue eyes that became his trademark. He oozed sex appeal.His first Broadway appearance was in “Picnic” (1953), and his first film was “The Silver Chalice” (1954) by Warner Brothers. However, he felt that his performance in the “The Silver Chalice” was so bad that he took out a full-page ad in a trade paper to apologize to anyone who had seen it. His next show as “Somebody Up There Likes Me” (1956) for which he drew rave reviews. He became one of the top box office draws of the 1960s.

Some of Paul Newman’s most popular films were “The Hustler” (1961), “The Prize” (1963), “Cool Hand Luke” (1967), and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” (1969). He also became involved as producer and director in films such as “Rachel, Rachel” (1968). “Rachel, Rachel” received an Oscar nomination for best picture.Paul Newman was nominated nine times for best actor oscar, and he won an Oscar for his performance in “The Color of Money” (1986).Paul Newman and his wife, Joanne Woodward, live in Westport, Connecticut. Paul Newman Has Cancer!

The ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ actor has been suffering from the potentially fatal disease for several months and just weeks ago had to pull out of directing a big-screen adaptation of John Steinbeck’s book ‘Of Mice and Men’.A friend of the actor - who used to be a chain-smoker told the National Enquirer magazine: “We have known he is seriously ill for several weeks but his loved ones are being very protective and saying very little.”

The legendary actor was reportedly diagnosed with the cancer at the New York’s Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, a few hours drive from his Connecticut home, where he lives with his wife Joanne Woodward.In March, a cancer patient claimed he had regularly seen Newman at the hospital.

He said: “He’s been there a lot, he’s even worked out in the waiting room, doing the squat thrusts. Last time, he was in there he had a long beard. Joanne is there waiting for him and being very sweet with the assistants.”However, his spokesperson played down his hospitalization, saying Newman was “being treated for athlete’s foot and hair loss”.
