Great Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was involved in a car accident Thursday night, August 13th, 2009, say reports coming out of Baltimore, Maryland, the swimmer’s hometown.There was a Michael Phelps car accident involving the Olympian swimmer and an unidentified woman. The Michael Phelps crash occurred shortly after 9PM on Thursday evening.

Apparently Phelps’ black Cadillac Escalade and a Honda Accord collided just after 9PM on Thursday night at the intersection of East Biddle Street and West Calvert Street in Downtown Baltimore, according to Baltimore City Police officials.

As far as what caused the crash, there are no definite specifics being reported, however witnesses told TMZ that the vehicles crashed after someone ran a stoplight and then hit another car that was not moving.Alcohol is said to be NOT a factor in this accident. Michael Phelps was uninjured and the unidentified woman had no serious injuries.

Michael Phelps Caught with Cannabis Pipe

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps hit superstar status during the 2008 Summer Olympics in China when he won eight gold medals, five of which were for individual events. Now the champion swimmer is in the news again, but this time for a much less noble reason. Michael Phelps was supposedly photographed taking a bong hit.

Michael Phelps is 23 years old and in college at the University of Michigan. It’s the perfect time in your life to party uncontrollably, make ban decisions, and just have an all-around good time. He’s a college student, for Pete’s sake! But it sounds like he’s taken it too far. Not only has Phelps been caught smoking marijuana, there’s apparently a photo. (we are not convinced that this photo is actually a photo of Michael Phelps.)

This Michael Phelps bong incident could affect his swimming career. Although he’s never failed a drug test, there is a four-year band on participating in Olympic-sanctioned events if it’s shown that you’ve taken drugs. I don’t know if this alleged photo would do the trick, but if so, this could be the last we see of Phelps in a swimming pool.This isn’t Phelps’ first run-in with trouble. In 2004, before turning 21, he got a DUI. He calls it “a learning experience”. No doubt this latest mistake will be, too.

Guitar Hero Commercial Featuring Heidi Klum

Activision is pulling out all the stops for the October 26 release of Guitar Hero: World Tour with some Risky Business-inspired ads featuring well-known celebrities. Each ad will feature the rich and famous dancing about in their underpants and doing their best Tom Cruise impression to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" while playing different World Tour instruments or lip-syncing.

Debuting today, the first commercial features sports stars Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps, and Tony Hawk "jamming" in a form reminiscent of the first "Risky Business" Guitar Hero ads starring American Idol alumni David Archuletta and David Cook.

Directed by Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand), these commercials were apparently produced to inspire everyone to "unleash their inner rock star." Ratner explains: "With the first Risky Business ads we wanted to excite fans by combining two pop culture sensations to create something even bigger. Those commercials were such a hit with Guitar Hero fans we decided to give them the same iconic 'living room rock star' moment they love, but as experienced with the new full band version of the game and with an entirely new cast of characters."

Activision and Ratner have no plans to stop there, though. According to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, we can expect more commercials featuring actors and, uh...supermodels: "To appeal to the multi-generational Guitar Hero fans out there we tapped a wide range of athletes, actors, and even supermodels to unleash their inner rock stars and live out their rock and roll fantasies."

Supermodels. Yeah. For some reason I just cannot see someone like Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum playing Guitar Hero in real life, but then again commercials like these are pure fantasy.See Guitar Hero Commercial here.

'Saturday Night Live' is Back With Michael Phelps

After he hosts NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend, there might not be much more the network can squeeze out of Michael Phelps.For now, anyway. Phelps' historic eight gold medals in the Beijing Olympics were the driving force behind NBC's prime-time Olympic ratings, just as Phelps' six golds in Athens were the key to NBC's 2004 Olympic ratings. NBC Sports Chairman Dick Ebersol told The New York Times that after NBC gained Olympic officials' support in its bid to have swimming finals moved from evenings to mornings so they could be shown live in prime time on the East Coast, the "first outsider" he consulted was Phelps, who was agreeable. After Phelps worked his way through various NBC outlets — this week giving Jay Leno his best rating in nearly three months — it was inevitable he'd end up on SNL.

Saturday also marks the comedy debut of Phelps -- talk about a fish out of water. The swimmer who won a record-setting eight gold medals at last month's Olympics has been riding a pop-culture wave since Beijing, making the rounds of the TV talk shows, presenting at MTV's Video Music Awards and being gossiped about in the tabloids.Phelps follows in the athletic footsteps of such jocks as LeBron James, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan, who also hosted NBC's late-night sketch show.

Michael Phelps Having Fun At The Playboy Club

Radar Staff Writer Neel Shah spent the evening in Las Vegas (more on that later), and was kind enough to send along these fine photos of Olympic hero Michael Phelps "massively skeeving on girls at the Playboy Club" in that city's Palms Casino. Neel notes that the Olympian was accompanied by an entourage of striped-shirted schmucks, one of whose sole duties appeared to be pointing a flashlight at anyone attempting to photograph the swimmer during his efforts to obtain a gold medal in ass-grabbing. ("It was unreal," says Neel. "Within moments of entering the club he summoned two girls over... I've never seen such an aggressive grip.")But don't be too quick to judge: Who among us, having just accomplished the greatest individual feat in Olympic history, wouldn't head straight to Vegas to score some tail? Hell, if it were me I'd still be wearing the goggles.

The magazine hits the newsstands on Friday, so pick up a copy for an interview and photos of the greatest Olympian in history.Phelps won 8 gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 6 more at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. And he is not done yet. He expects to compete for more gold at the 2012 London Olympics. We expect Michael Phelps to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated many more times. He is the human dolphin, after all.

This issue will sell out like nobody’s business. In addition to the most medals in any one Olympics, Phelps has more golds than any athlete in history. He won six golds in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

The world record time in the 4×100 medley relay was 3:29.34. For his impossible feat, Michael Phelps receives a $1 million bonus from Speedo, one of his sponsors.Perhaps he also receives the envy of teammates. Swimming is an intensely competitive sport, and all the members of the U.S. swim team spend their careers trying to beat each other in national events. One once every four years do they come together to do something for the team.

In watching Phelps celebrate with teammates, I do not sense a lot of love lost between them. Phelps is in a class by himself, and he seems to know it and show it. I do not see the kinds of team spirit and goodwill displayed by, say, the women’s gymnastics team.So congratulations to the entire U.S. men’s 4×100 medley swim team for winning the gold medal and setting a new world record, which they clearly would have won and done without Michael Phelps. The U.S. team is that good. But congratulations to Michael Phelps for his amazing feat of 8 gold medals in the Beijing Olympics.
