The One With The Cast Of Night Court On 30 Rock

The cast of Night Court was going to be on tonight's episode of 30 Rock? Maybe all of the talk about Jennifer Aniston being a guest on the show (and Oprah and Steve Martin in the coming weeks) overshadowed that news, or maybe they didn't think it was big enough news to announce. But God I think it's even bigger news! Hey, Aniston is fine, but let me repeat: this episode features a reunion of the cast of Night Court! One NBC sitcom classic meets another.

And the reason they're on the show is even better...It's funny, when I saw the title of the episode I thought it was some sly reference to Aniston being on the show, she being from Friends but the wacky people behind 30 Rock picked a random NBC comedy for no reason. But to actually have Harry Anderson (who doesn't even act much anymore since moving to New Orleans and now North Carolina), Markie Post, and Charles Robinson? Excellent! And it's not just a cameo like you might think. They're one of the major plots in the show (after the Aniston is stalking Jack plot) as Tracy gets the cast together so Kenneth can finally have a good final episode of Night Court. I mean, how freakin' great is that for a plot? TV shows never do anything like that.

Matt Felker is also creating his own screenplay. It all started when he had an idea to write a film about pop culture and the Internet. He began networking through myspace, when it first came out, utilitizing the site to manipulate his career. He did an experiment where he removed his own profile image, making his template of choice the NO PHOTO symbol that everyone knew from myspace. He then created a character for the NO PHOTO, naming him Brad Lenz. The idea behind it was that if a Hollywood actor could become a brand, so could the NO PHOTO man. And so Brad Lentz was created and promoted, and soon enough Lentz was an identifiable brand. Felker was later approached by myspace entrepreneur Todd Goldman, with the idea of making t-shirts. The two teamed up, and came up with a t-shirt that read “Who Is Brad Lenz” and featured the NO PHOTO symbol on the front. The t-shirt was a hit and hundreds of people everywhere took a picture of themselves wearing the shirt and posted it on myspace. After such a successful launch, Felker took the t-shirt to his attorney and trademarked the name Brad Lenz, as well as the NO PHOTO symbol, which was still a free agent.

Matt Felker is in the news this week with reports that he is dating Jennifer Aniston, who just ended a high profile relationship with John Mayer. However the reports are conflicting, as Perez Hilton says he has sources which reveal exclusively that the two do not even know each other personally, and Jen is dating a mystery man. Maybe this is another one of Matt’s fabulous marketing experiments for his film.

Apparently, some folks in the press still believe that Jennifer is harboring bitter feelings towards Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie because she’s had to watch them get pregnant and so, of course, her only alternative is to have babies of her own - as a way to do the old “I’ll show them!” retaliation move. The 39-year-old actress feels that after all she has been through watching Brad and Angie’s family grow, she’d love Brad to see photos of her holding her own baby and show him she’s not the self-centered girl he had made her out to be.

I find Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johannson an odd couple. Maybe it’s the whole Alanis Morissette connection that is throwing me off, but they are not the only odd celebrity couple out there. The Michael Jackson/Lisa Marie Presley and the Julia Roberts/Lyle Lovett relationships are classic, but there are a few current odd celebrity couples giving them a run for their money. As a disclaimer, before you start commenting, “Leave them alone. Let them be happy. Who are you to judge. Blah Blah.” I’m not sticking small celebrity look-a-like voodoo dolls with pins hoping they break up, I just find the couples dating below a little strange.

Everyone is talking about the recent engagement of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds, and she’s finally showing off the ring. That thing is a small ice rink. Am I the only one that finds this union strange? There’s also an eight year age difference. I wish them all the happiness Hollywood has to offer, the two together just screams odd. But maybe they’ll spawn an awesome man-hating Alanis song.
