Shayne Lamas dumps “The Bachelor,” Matt Grant

Shayne Lamas and Matt Grant have issued a joint statement that their engagement is over. See photos and video here. No one expected the reality show romance to last very long, but it ended in record time - just long enough to milk as much publicity as possible.Just about everyone who watched the finale of “The Bachelor: London Calling” knew that the Shayne Lamas and Matt Grant engagement wouldn’t last long. It served its purpose, though, as Shayne and Matt went through the rounds of TV and other media appearances. It lasted long enough for them to appear on “The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose” show. Shayne - aka “Monkey” to Matt - sent up plenty of red flags during the reality show, but Matt was so smitten with her that he ignored them all.

Shayne Lamas is the 22-year-old daughter is Lorenzo Lamas, the actor. Shayne declared once that her top five priorities were cars, shoes, handbags, sunglasses and watches. Really. At least she doesn’t pretend to be something she’s not. Matt “I’m coming to take your women” Grant wasn’t exactly the epitomy of other-mindedness himself. So perhaps it wasn’t such a bad match after all. Their split reportedly came as a result of Shayne Lamas cheating on Matt Grant with Justin Wenerger. Wenerger is described asa “media mogul.” Hmmm - wonder what Shayne sees in him? Here’s the statement that Shayne and Matt made:“We tried hard to make it work but we realized that we were both heading in different directions,” the former couple said in a joint statement. “We truly care about each other and will remain close friends.”So far “The Bachelor” show has a dismal record of forming lasting relationships. When British financier Matt Grant comes calling on the season premiere of “The Bachelor,” it may be an Oklahoman who snags his heart.Carri Perrier, described in ABC press information as a 25-year-old church marketing representative from Oklahoma City, will be among the 25 American women vying for Grant’s heart in the 12th edition of ABC’s romance reality series “The Bachelor: London Calling.”The winner of numerous beauty pageants, Perrier has competed as a singer and supported platforms including suicide prevention and the national Girl Power campaign.
