Golden Globe Winners Announced

Golden Globe
The winners for the 2008 Golden Globes were announced tonight at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California in rather quiet fashion. No stars, no Hollywood power players... No, with the Writer's Guild strike still going strong, tonight's ceremony was a very business-like affair. Winners will receive this year's Globe awards by mail.In Lieu of celebs, this year's awards were presented by hosts of various entertainment news/gossip shows such as Mary Heart from E.T., Brooke Anderson from CNN and Laura Spencer from The Insider.

The only real surprise was that clips were actually shown from a few categories, such as Best Animated Feature, Best Musical or Comedy and Best Drama. Word is the Hollywood Foreign Press had to pay to license these brief clips for the show.Actors and filmmakers skipped the Golden Globes because of the two-month-old strike by the guild, which had planned pickets outside the show if organizers had tried to do their usual televised ceremony. Globe planners and NBC canceled the three-hour bash in favor of the news conference, attended by about 600 politely clapping journalists, TV crews, HFPA members, guests and publicists in business attire.
