Cate Blanchett Welcomes A Baby Boy

Cate Blanchett welcomes a baby boy into the world! It is the third son for Cate, pictured below at the Oscars just two months ago, and husband Andrew Upton.Initial reports are both Cate, 38, and the baby, Ignatius Martin, are doing the well. Ignatius was born Sunday night, weighing in at just under 8 lbs. He joins brothers Dashiell John, 6, and Roman Robert who turns four on April 23.Blanchett confirmed her pregnancy back in November, dismissing reports she knew the sex of the baby. “You know more than me. It’s early days yet. It’s due in April.”

Cate has recently settled in her native Australia where her and her husband are co-directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. She also feels that gives more stability to her children with two of them getting a little older. The Oscar winner can be seen in the States, however, when ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Cyrstal Skull releases May 22.

The actress is also scheduled to chair a session titled ‘Towards a creative Australia’ this weekend at the Australia 2020 Summit. The summit was organized by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, for Australia’s future. Rudd confirmed Blanchett would attend this weekend with the help of an co-chair.
