Miss Rap Supreme :Latest Reality Television Show
The latest in reality television shows brings us “Miss Rap Supreme” a competition between 10 girls who compete for $100,000 based on their rap skills. Think of it as the female counterpart of “The (White) Rapper Show”, although these girls come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.“Miss Rap Supreme” debuts tomorrow, April 14, 2008 at 10 p.m. EST on VH1. It will be hosted by Michael Berrin, a.k.a. MC Serch, and co-host Yo-Yo. The 10 contestants will compete on television to demonstrate their sex appeal, stage presence, and creativity.
Yo-yo, speaking on why it’s so hard to find great female rappers on the radio or in record stores these days, says,“I don’t think we’ve had the right leadership or direction. Women can be catty especially when it comes to competition. We know they’re only going to allow so many of us in and once we’re in, we let them pit us against each other. I was there at one time until I thought, ‘Hey, there’s room for us all.’ There’s just not enough sisterhood. I’m 36 now and thank god I have another opportunity to get my name out in the public and use this to do other things.”
