Nina Garcia Fired from Elle Magazine
Nina Garcia is the former Fashion Director for Elle magazine and a judge on the reality show ‘Project Runway.Nina Garcia was fired or “parted company” today from Elle Magazine. No word on whether she will stay on as a judge for Bravo’s Emmy-nominated reality series. The only reason given so far for letting Garcia go is “the environment at the New York offices of Elle is currently ‘nuts.’”
Nina Garcia was born in Colombia, South America on May 3, 1965, which makes her age 42. She attended Dana Hall school in Massachusetts and went on to study at Boston University. Garcia advanced her fashion knowledge at Ecole Superieur de la Mode in Paris and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her start in the industry came in the public relations department for Perry Ellis under Marc Jacobs. A job at Mirabella magazine came next as Assistant Stylist and Market Editor before joining Elle.
While at Elle, Garcia became the Fashion Director in 2000 and was in charge of about 15 editors, covering fashion in New York, Milan, and Paris.She works closely with top designers and stylists and pinpoints the trends of the season in her monthly mission to develop the ultimate look book and shopping guide for stylish women around the globe. Garcia also conceives the front-of-book Trends, Shops, and Accessories pages.
Nina can speak English, Spanish, and French, which has been helpful during her travels through Europe and Asia. She is also an author, writing ‘The Little Black Book of Style’ and can be seen in a cameo appearance on an upcoming episode of ‘Ugly Betty.’ Garcia is married to David Conrod, and they have a one-year old son, Lucas Alexander.
