Amanda Shaw Is Hot Zydeco Artist!!

Amanda Shaw, the up and coming new artist who has a unique sound and a cute look.In 2008, Amanda’s third album “Pretty Runs Out” was released to much anticipation and praise. She is now touring in promotion of the new disc.Amanda Shaw was born in 1991 in Boston, so her age is approximately 17. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to New Orleans. She has been playing the violin since she was 4. Although she began studying classical, even playing with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra when she was 7, she switched to Cajun at 8 and has been rocking the Zydeco sound ever since. Her band is called the Cute Boys, and they play in and around the New Orleans area a lot, but this summer she’s taking the tour across the state border as far north as Minnesota.

Though she sticks to the fiddle, Amanda’s music is so versatile and eclectic that it includes covers of the Clash and the Ramones to traditional Cajun pieces and two-steps. On her latest album she covers Jack Johnson. Sometimes she even sings in French. You have to check out her MySpace page - I’m definitely a fan.Amanda is also an actress, appearing in two Disney movies, “Stuck in the Suburbs” and “Now You See It…” Her voice and music were also heard in “Hurricane on the Bayou”, a documentary on Hurricane Katrina.
