Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Finale

Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 Finale
Finally, after weeks of speculation, there’s a kiss! Not the kiss that is supposed to shock us all, that’s supposed to come next week…but an intriguing kiss nonetheless! I’m talking of course about Callie and Erica in the elevator. While the motivation for the lip-lock could obviously be attributed to Erica’s desire to rile up Mark (who is “turning over a new leaf”), one could also argue that it might have had more meaning for one, or both of the ladies involved. Hopefully, next week will shed more light on that one.

Meanwhile, Derek and Meredith found themselves working with a new patient, Greta (Regina Taylor), who appeared to be suffering from a romantic delusion involving a guy she allegedly met on a cruise. Greta’s only request was that they hold off on the surgery until he could arrive, which prompted a huge debate between Derek and Meredith: do they wait for this “phantom love,” and sacrifice precious time, or do they move ahead anyway? While Derek wanted to give Greta more time to hold onto the dream, Meredith was ready to get cracking. I found myself thinking the scenario was reminiscent of Flight Plan, with Jodie Foster---would this missing mystery person ever show up? Thankfully, he did, but he was too late. Greta ended up in what Derek branded a fatal coma.

On another disturbing note, Cristina continued to dwell in an angry place tonight. She had no interest in joining in on the landmark surgery that occurred tonight and she was eager to belittle just about anyone who crossed her path. Between taunting George about his lacking future without Burke’s direction and telling Lexie that she needs to “have some fire and be a force of nature,” it was pretty clear that the words coming out of her mouth were actually misguided accusations aimed at herself. Personally, I can’t wait for Cristina to get out of this funk because I much prefer the witty Cristina to the purely nasty one.

Tonight, Alex finally found out the truth about Ava/Rebecca and he continued to stay by her side anyway. And did I see that wrong, or was Alex rummaging through Izzie’s drawers tonight to find something for Rebecca to wear? Had I been Izzie I think I would have had a problem walking into that scenario, without having been asked permission first. At any rate, I do feel bad that Rebecca seems to be suffering from something far worse than what I had originally suspected (a severe case of pre-meditated manipulation).
