Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are getting married!The talk show host made the announcement at a taping of her TV show Thursday night, which airs today.The California Supreme Court took a stance for equality on Thursday, by overturning the ban on gay marriage, the judges reaffirmed their belief that all residents of California should be treated the same under the law.

Ellen told the Advocate,“I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.Now let’s see how many other states will follow suit. I’m guessing this will be a slow process, but I am very happy for Ellen.
