Weezer: Pork and Beans Video
I’ve loved Weezer since I first heard The Blue Album. And their latest video is no exception to Weezer standard of awesomeness. The “Pork and Beans” video was released May 23, just a couple weeks before their new album, Weezer (The Red Album), is scheduled to drop on June 3.
For Weezer’s latest video, “Pork and Beans”, the band has gathered all of your favorite YouTube stars. Remember the kid who did the Polish dance in a chair? He’s getting back at all those kids who made fun of him because now he’s in a Weezer video. And that “Chocolate Rain” guy? Yep, Weezer snagged him, too. Chris Crocker (the leave Britney alone guy) is there too, along with the guy from the Evolution of Dance, the light sabre guy, the nun-chucks guy, Miss Teen South Carolina, and even Kevin Federline (popozao this). Those are some clever rockstars - no wonder Rivers Cuomo went to Harvard University.
Cuomo reveals that “Pork and Beans” was actually written to annoy Weezer’s record label, DCG. He had come to the label with new songs for The Red Album, but they were rejected as not catchy enough. Cuomo reveals,“I came out of it pretty angry. But ironically, it inspired me to write another song.”The theme of the song is deliberately random (like the video), but apparently it was just catchy enough to be released.
