Whitney Cummings Is A Stand-up Comedian

Whitney Cummings, a stand-up comic making a name for herself in L.A. Having previously helped pull pranks on MTV’s “Punk’d”, she is now doing tons of stand-up gigs and landing movie and television roles.Whitney plays opposite Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Dempsey in the new movie “Made of Honor”. The film opened to much anticipation on Friday, May 2, 2008.

Whitney Cummings was born on September 4, 1982 in Washington, D.C. She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she participated in several theater productions and graduated magna cum laude. After college, Whitney moved to Los Angeles.

Whitney’s first gig was helping Ashton Kutcher catch celebrities acting a fool in “Punk’d”. She has also appeared on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and E! countdown shows. In an effort to make her big break, she was doing three stand-up gigs a night and going to auditions in the morning. And the break has come - Whitney landed the role of one of Michelle Monaghan’s best friends in “Made of Honor”, which released this weekend.

Last year, Variety named Whitney one of 10 comics to watch. The magazine particularly enjoyed Cummings’ self-deprecating humor, quoting a joke that goes a little something like this:“[she] once noted that she often double-books dates when she’s down to her last ‘morning after’ pill: ‘Actually, I have two (pills) left, but I have an audition tomorrow.’ “We’re sure to see more this hilarious woman.
