Meet Joanna Garcia, one of one of EW’s 15 fall TV stars to watch. Joanna Garcia stars on Privileged, a new series on the CW.Joanna Garcia Privileged? Not so much. Her character Megan Smith, is a writer who leaves her New York apartment to live in Palm Beach, where she aspires to meet famous people so she can write about them. She is hired as a tutor for privileged sisters Rose (Lucy Hale) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough).

Joanna Leanna García was born on August 10, 1979 in Tampa, Fl. Her mother is a Spanish-American homemaker and former elementary schoolteacher. Her father is of Cuban decent and is a gynecologist. She has one brother, Michael García.Joanna Garcia began acting at the age of ten when she auditioned for a local theater production and got the lead. Her parents insisted that school be the priority but she was allowed to act in local plays. Although her measurements are unknown, she is a beautiful girl, as you can see from her pictures. She was the homecoming queen at her school, Tampa Catholic High School.

It was in high school that Joanna Garcia’s acting talent was discovered by Nickelodeon, and for two seasons she starred as Samantha on Are You Afraid of the Dark?. This took a toll on the young actress, as she had to commute from Florida to Montreal, Canada, where the show was filmed.

Joanna Garcia did attempt to go to college; she attended Florida State University for a year. But her passion for acting was too strong, so she left to pursuing acting full-time. She moved to L.A. and landed her first role on Party of Five, playing the character Hallie. She then had a recurring role on Freaks and Geeks, and smaller roles on Family Law, Providence, Dawson’s Creek, and Opposite Sex.Joanna García then scored her first big role as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery, Reba’s (Reba McEntire) oldest daughter on The CW sitcom Reba. This role led to her current Joanna Garcia’s Privileged character Megan Smith.
