Chen Jun Admits to Murdering Model Diana O’Brien
Diana O’Brien, 22, a Canadian model in Shanghai, was stabbed to death on July 7. O’Brien’s photo is below. Diana O’Brien was unhappy working as a model in Shanghai and she had planned to return home just before she was stabbed to death.Chen Jun, 18, was caught and charged with the murder of Diana O’Brien. O’Brien’s apartment door was open and Chen Jun walked in. Just as he was stealing a laptop, O’Brien caught him. Chen Jun threatened her with a knife and O’Brien ran away from her apartment.
Chen Jun gave chase, caught her at the stairs/ stairwell and stabbed her. Chen Jun said O’Brien was alive when he left her there. The police came but they did not see O’Brien in the stairwell until a janitor discovered her the next morning at 6 am. By then, Diana O’Brien was dead.Chen Jun said he did not dial for an ambulance because he called for the police and he assumed they would find O’Brien in the staircase. Police viewed some surveillance tapes and identified Chen Jun. They searched for him and found him. During their search in his accomodations, police found the dead woman’s personal belongings. Chen Jun has largely confessed to his crimes.Chen Jun’s trial is now on but his lawyer told the press that he faced a possible death sentence.
