Frank Gifford, a retired professional American football player who is the husband of Today Show talk show host and singer Kathie Lee Gifford.Frank will be joining his wife Kathie Lee on the Today Show on the fourth hour of the Friday’s episode. The pairing will be a one-time only and will broadcast on WESH-Channel 2.

Since Frank is a former sportscaster, he shouldn’t be having any problems facing the camera with his wife for the first time in 15 years.Frank Gifford was born on August 16, 1930 in Santa Monica, California so his age is 78. He attended the University of Southern California and was named an All-American.He was drafted by the New York Giants and played for them for over 12 seasons. He made eight Pro Bowl appearances and five NFL Championship games. Frank led the Giants to the Super Bowl title in 1956, which is considered as his biggest season. He played as a running back.

Frank lost two crucial years of his career due to injury during the early sixties. He was included into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in July 1970.Gifford later became a sportscaster for CBS. He also hosted ABC’s Monday Night Football in 1971. He did a lot of shows for ABC, covering wide range of sports events. He was given the Pete Rozelle Award for his NFL related TV work.

In 1997, Frank was involved in a big controversy with TWA air hostess Suzen Johnson. Suzen was paid by The Globe tabloid to have an affair with Gifford and the entire episode was videotaped. She succeeded in that and the photos were flashed in The Globe.Frank has been married to Kathie Lee since 1986 and the couple have two children Cody Newton Gifford and daughter Cassidy Erin Gifford.
