Susan Boyle is Britain’s Got Talent Singing Sensation
Susan Boyle, Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation. See photos, video and a biography of the 47 year old who has wowed the judges and drawn comparison to a previous winner, Paul Potts, the mobile salesman turned opera star. The Susan Boyle Britain’s Got Talent audition has everyone talking and already she is favored to win the talent competition in which the winner performs for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

The singer surprised everyone, including the judges, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.Susan Boyle had a modest, unassuming appearance, as a middle-aged woman in a plain gold-colored dress, which obviously contributed to the judges’ being dismissive of her.

When Simon Cowell asked her how old she was, she defiantly said, “Forty-seven, and that’s just one side of me!” as she gyrated her hips, prompting laughter from the audience. She went on to say she had always wanted to be a professional singer, but that she never had the opportunity.Cowell then asked her, as a singer whom she would like to be as successful as, to which she replied, “Elaine Paige.”

As soon as she began to sing ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from the musical Les Miserables, any doubts as to her professional aspirations were quelled. Her breathtaking talent and the sheer beauty of her voice, prompted cheering from the audience throughout her performance and left the judges nearly speechless thereafter.

Piers Morgan acknowledge that people had been laughing at her when she first made her appearance on stage. ‘Well, no one is laughing now. That was stunning,’ he said. Amanda Holden said they had all been cynical and this was the ‘biggest wake-up call ever.’ ‘It was a complete privilege listening to that,’ she said. Simon Cowell for his part, jokingly said, ‘I knew the minute you walked out that we were going to hear something extraordinary, and I was right.’
