Sandra Bullock Appears On Oprah Show

In celebration of Earth Day, Oprah’s show today featured guests like Julia Roberts, who discussed the top 5 green foods for your kitchen, and Al Gore, who discussed his eco-campaign. But the biggest hit of the television show was Sandra Bullock, who talked about growing up green and her clean burning soy Bessence candles.

Sandra has always been environmentally conscious because her mother raised her that way. As a kid, she ate macrobiotic foods and wore clothes made without dyes and chemicals. Now Sandra uses those same lessons in the restaurant that she owns; for instance, the to go containers are made of sugarcane instead of styrofoam, paper or plastic. How’s that for biodegradable. Of making the extra effort, Sandra says,
“It’s just a few cents. I think we’re absolutely worth it—those few extra pennies [help] to make sure that we have a beautiful earth.”

But the biggest hit of Sandra’s presentation were her candles. After finding out that there were a lot of chemicals in the candles in her home, Sandra started her own line of soy-based candles with lead-free wicks and all organic, recycled packaging. She calls the line Bessence Candles
