Tamara Mellon, the founder of Jimmy Choo shoes and the girlfriend of Christian Slater.Tamara Mellon was recently in St. Barts with her boyfriend, Christian Slater. And rather than adjusting that bikini top to get it fitting right, she just took the whole thing off and started over.Tamara Mellon was born on July 7, 1967 in Berkshire, England, so her age is 40. Her father is a successful entrepreneur who worked with Vidal Sassoon and her mother a Chanel model.

Tamara has always been a business woman. At the age of 17 she made t-shirts and sold them on Portobello Road. Shortly after entering the working world, Tamara accepted a position as accessories editor for British Vogue. While there, she realized the potential for high-end accessories, and she approached then small-time designer shoe man Jimmy Choo with a business idea. She founded the Jimmy Choo Company, and the shoes are now sold wholesale to over 100 retailers as well individually at 39 Jimmy Choo stores. Tamara has cultivated a fan-base in Hollywood where Jimmy Choo shoes are worn to all the big events. Tamara continues to take an active role in running the company.

Despite her commercial success, it’s Tamara’s personal life that has been getting attention. Tamara married Matthew Mellon in 1998, and together they have a daughter, Araminta. The couple divorced in 2005 after Matthew returned to his cocaine habit. Tamara has had her own struggles with addiction, and she briefly checked into rehab in 1996.

After her divorce, Tamara was linked to such men as Kid Rock, Joe Francis, and Pharrell Williams. She is currently dating Christian Slater, and the two have been seen in St. Barts together and at the Los Angeles Spice Girls concert. As if her dating life wasn’t exciting enough, Tamara is also involved in a $10 million lawsuit against her mother. In 2004, Jimmy Choo was sold in a move that was to make everyone involved millions. Apparently Tamara’s mom messed things up when she requested all cash and no stock options, so that Tamara would receive all the stock options.
