Syesha Mercado In American Idol Top 4

Syesha Mercado, American Idol’s Season 7 Top 4 contestant.Syesha Mercado has survived several eliminations this season. I do think that she has improved immensely over the weeks and enjoy her performances. Can she survive one more week on American Idol? We’ll find out Wednesday, when I believe it will be she and Jason Castro in the bottom two.

Syesha Raquel Mercado was born on January 3, 1987 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She is 21 years old. She is of African-American and Cuban descent. Her mother Zelda was a Motown back-up singer. Syesha started singing at a very young age, when she was just 3 years old. She hails from Sarasota, Florida, where she attended Booker High School and graduated from there in 2005. She was part of the Theater VPA department. She won Best Supporting Actress for her part of Sour Kangaroo in Seussical the Musical in 2005. Syesha has appeared in several commercials as well.

Syesha auditioned for the 7th season of American Idol in Miami, Florida, where she performed Think by Aretha Franklin to the judges. While in Hollywood, she lost her voice and did not speak, communicating only through pen and paper. She sang Chain of Fools and made it to the Top 24.

Syesha’s run on the show may come to an end this week. She more than likely will be in the bottom two with Jason Castro and it will be a toss up as to who goes home. No worries though, as she will have a successful career on Broadway, as she showed through her performance of One Rock and Roll Too Many during Andrew Lloyd Webber week. She certainly did him proud.
