Is Jeffrey Wright a Victim of Police Brutality?

Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright, along with Josh Brolin, was arrested in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 12th, after a bar fight spun out of control. Both actors are starring in the upcoming controversial Oliver Stone biopic “W” based on the life of President George W. Bush. But was Jeffrey Wright, who is playing former Secretary of Defense Colin Powell, a victim of an overabundance of police aggression?
Sources are now claiming that the Shreveport police used excessive violence, pepper spraying and tasing both actors, in addition to hurling racial slurs at Mr. Wright. Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Wright, and five other members of the film’s crew were also arrested, and they claim, along with numerous witnesses, that the police simply went too far. TMZ has also made claims that there is video footage of the purported police violence against the actors caught on film.
Jeffrey Wright was born on December 7th. 1965 in Washington D.C., he graduated from Amherst college in 1987 with a degree in Political Science. He subsequently won an acting scholarship to NYU, but dropped out shortly after to pursue a full-time acting career.
Soon, Jeffrey starred in “Angels in America” on Broadway, which earned him a much-deserved Tony award. His first big film break came in 1996 when he was cast as the titular character in the film “Basquiat.” For portraying the notorious artist and addict with heart and passion, Wright earned an AFI award for Best Actor.Jeffrey Wright has enjoyed many more film roles, including films such as “Hamlet,” “The Manchurian Candidate,” “Syriana,” “Broken Flowers,” and “Casino Royale.” He is married to actress Carmen Ejogo, and they have one child together.
