Kris Allen is New American Idol as Adam Lambert Loses:Kris Allen Wins American Idol 2009

Kris Allen is New American Idol as Adam Lambert Loses:Kris Allen Wins American Idol 2009
Kris Allen's smooth vocals and boy-next-door image propelled him to "American Idol" victory Wednesday, turning the theatrical powerhouse Adam Lambert into the most unlikely of also-rans."I'm sorry, I don't even know what to feel right now. This is crazy," said a stunned Allen, 23, of Conway, Ark.As host Ryan Seacrest said in announcing the result of the viewer vote, "The underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over."

Lambert's commanding vocal range and stage presence — and the judges' adoration of him — at times turned "Idol" into "The Adam Lambert Show," with the other contestants mere guests. But it turned out that "Idol" viewers could embrace a gifted performer like Lambert, one who sported black nail polish and bold self-assurance, only to a point.

Simon Cowell tipped his hat to both contestants Wednesday."To both of you, and I don't normally mean this, I thought you were both brilliant. .... The future's all yours," the judge said.

Before the results were announced, Lambert and Allen had a moment of musical camaraderie: They joined together with Queen on the rock anthem "We Are the Champions.""Adam did win. So did Kris. Nobody lost tonight. These are two champions," said Paul Stanley from KISS backstage.

Kris Allen was named the winner of “American Idol” on Wednesday night, receiving more votes than Adam Lambert, who was perceived (by some) to be the likely champion. Even Mr. Allen was slightly stunned by the news: after the host Ryan Seacrest had told him he had won, he said, “Adam deserves this.” (By contrast, Simon Cowell appeared to lodge a silent protest from his seat, declining to stand and applaud Mr. Allen’s victory with his fellow judges.)

Danny Gokey Voted Off:It's Adam Lambert Vs. Kris Allen In American Idol Final

Danny Gokey and his late wife Sophia Gokey

Tonight's result show is the unofficial finale for American Idol. With 88 million votes cast yesterday, America sent home Danny Gokey which gave the way for Kris Allen to continue his quest on becoming the next American Idol.

A lot of people were shocked with Gokey's exit but I'm not one of them. I think some of the reasons why they voted off Danny is because of his screaming scene last week. A lot of Idol fans were disappointed when Allison Iraheta was sent home last week thats why most of them supported Kris instead of Gokey. Some of his fans were also turned off after all the bible thumping stories and the publicity of his dead wife.

We all know what will happen next week. It's been predicted that Adam Lambert will win the competition after the Micheal Jackson theme night. So we are all going to expect a screaming final song from him next Wednesday. It's all written in the Idol history book. What is not written is Danny going home and Kris dueling with Adam in the finals.

Katy Perry is about to perform on "American Idol," but first Danny Gokey says what we've all been thinking -- "there's been enough commercials, enough suspense -- I just want to get it over."Then Katy comes out in some Vegas showgirl version of Elvis' getups, singing "Waking Up in Vegas." She looks totally ridiculous, like she's a cartoon character or something; also her outfit doesn't fit her that well. Watch Jordin Sparks And Katy Perry ‘American Idol’ video here.

Kara says "you're an "amazing strategist, you did your own version". Paula calls it "a brilliant choice of song and superb performance." Simon says "It was a brilliant, brilliant performance."Tonight on "American Idol" the final three are singing a song chosen by the judges as well as a song of their own choice.Paula, selected Terence Trent D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister" for Danny, and Simon picked either U2's "One" or Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" for Adam. Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12 (Video)

Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12
Kris Allen Heartless video - Tonight was the time for the top 3 performances on American Idol, and Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kriss Allen each sang one song they choose and another one chosen by the judges.Kris Allen may have had the best performance of the night with his rendition of Heartless, a song by Kanye West. You can check out the Kris Allen Heartless video below:

The night started off with so-so performances from Danny, Kris, and yes, even Adam. His take on U2’s “One” started off strong, but slid into screechy territory. Danny’s song was forgettable, and Kris was too low-key with “Apologize.” The song selections proved the judges don’t have a firm handle on who the singers are as artists. For Round 2, the contestants chose their own songs, and each showed his true “artistry” (shout out to Kara!).

Danny chose the perfect song for his raspy vocals — Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful”; Kris reinvented Kanye West’s “Heartless,” while Adam rocked it out with Aerosmith’s “Cryin.”Simon astutely reminded the audience not to “assume” that Adam was going to make it to the finals. And indeed, tonight the contestants proved it was best to check your assumptions at the door.

Kris Allen sang "Heartless" by Kanye West on American Idol, May 12.Outstanding performance - probably the best from Kris so far, potentially a game-changer.Randy says "It was better than the original!" ( couldn't agree more with Randy), "you're in it to win it, I love it, baby." Kara calls it "bold, brave, fearless." Paula says you sang a song about Simon; Bravo! Simon loved his performance too.

'American Idol' Top 3 Revealed as Allison Iraheta is Out:No Doubt,Gwen Stefani&Chris Daughtry Performed

Allison Iraheta, 'American Idol'

One more contestant in "American Idol" takes the fall. Allison Iraheta, the 16-year-old red hair has been eliminated from the competition after being put on the bottom two with Danny Gokey. Ryan Seacrest said that 64 million votes were cast the night before (May 5). Choked up in tears when her montage was played, Allison then took the stage for one last time to sing her rendition of Janis Joplin's "Cry Baby". She hugged Paula Abdul during the performance and the others afterward.

With the departure of Allison, the top 3 is officially dominated by males. Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen will battle it out next week with two songs each. One song will be picked by the judges while another one is left for the contestant to choose.

Guest performances of the result night were coming from the reunited No Doubt and former Idol finalist Chris Daughtry who was there with his band DAUGHTRY to debut the new single from their upcoming album. Paula Abdul was also on the stage to sing her new single "('m Just) Here For The Music".No Doubt next to perform on American Idol, doing "Just a Girl." Gwen Stefani's not lip-synching, it's a raw, real performance even after all these years. Crowd's reallly into it; I'd say it's one of the better Wednesday performances we've had.

And Gwen Stefani, who blasted in from the past with "I'm Just a Girl," said that "the whole point" of her band's upcoming tour, kicking off next week in Las Vegas, is to prepare their fans for a new No Doubt album.

Taylor Hicks, Natalie Cole on American Idol:American Idol Top 4

Taylor Hicks, Natalie Cole on American Idol:American Idol Top 4

Natalie Cole's the first of tonight's three guest performers, singing Something's Gotta Give. It's a fitting title for a results show, and she looks and sounds great -- she's just the kind of performer to show these five the standards that have been set for them. Even when Natalie's in a part of the song that isn't a natural fit for her voice, she makes it sound like it's exactly what she intended to do.One more Idol will bid us farewell tonight, but only after we see performances from Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks, Natalie Cole and Rat-Pack mentor Jamie Foxx.

Ryan asks Matt and Kris to stand on one side of the stage, and Allison and Danny to stand on the other. Ryan then asks Adam which group he thinks he belongs in, and the poor guy winces. Wouldn't you? I hate when they pull this crap; it's so awkward. Adam says that based on last night, he'll stand with Allison and Danny. But no sooner does he make the trip, Seacrest pulls him over to Matt and Kris and tells him he's in the bottom three. I'm honestly shocked! I'm also shocked that Allison and Danny are safe automatically, and judging by her jaw dragging on the floor, so is Allison. But, can we talk about Adam Lambert? I thought that dude was untouchable, and I'm glad to see that he's got competition. Woo to the hoo! Can I also say a giant "ha!" to Simon? America didn't listen to him about Allison.

Natalie sings "Something's Gotta Give" and looks fantastic! Yes, she's very thin, but I gather her weight's due to her struggle with Hepatitis C. Clearly, it's not stopping her from performing (or touring this summer), so bravo! Her performance is jazzy, although the end is a little sharp. But the audience and the judges all give her a standing ovation... because she's Natalie Cole.Taylor Hicks (he's skinny, too!) is back in all his Soul Patrol glory to perform his single "Seven Mile Breakdown." It sounds exactly like every other Taylor Hicks song, which is not a bad thing. It's just his funky, bluesy, down-home kind of style. Has anyone been following Taylor's career? Seen his shows? I'm so curious. If you have, dish it up in the comments section below.

I feel like it's my birthday, or Christmas has come early: Kris is sent back to safety! Kris and Allison are safe! Me and my unborn baby girl are doing a happy dance right now. She seems to kick a lot during this show... could it be her love of music? Or her disdain for Simon? Only time will tell.

Jamie Foxx Performs
While I'll give him props for his being a decent mentor, I cannot stand his hit, "Blame It." I might have accidentally fast-forwarded through it. Hee hee. After the song, Jamie tells Ryan that these are some of the most talented artists he's seen in the last ten years and hopes the audience continues to support them after they're off the show. Aw. Then he ruins it by plugging his movie.

Of course, Adam is safe. Come on, you didn't think he was going home, did you? So, we say goodbye to Matt Giraud. Though he had some shaky weeks, I think that if he sticks with his jazzy, R&B-Justin Timberlake thing, he could go far. Good luck, Matt! (P.S. I love that he has tears in his eyes).

The singer brought his theatrics to a new level, literally, as he descended the stairs which were illuminated in soft pink light as he wore a white suit. The cheering crowd is nothing new, but tonight the cheering was so spirited one might have thought the singer had won American Idol already.

The judges rendered their assessment one by one.Randy Jackson said he was ‘a little theatrical’ but noted that the singer ‘was always in the zone.’ Kara Dioguardi said in a word, he was ’superb.’ Paula Abdul compared watching him to watching Michael Phelps win Olympic Gold medals.Simon Cowell dryly responded to Randy Jackson by said that complaining that Adam Lambert was theatrical was like complaining a cow is mooing. Adam Lambert Born To Be Wild Video

Adam Lambert Born to be Wild Video, american idol
Watch the Adam Lambert ‘Born to be Wild’ video here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered a stellar performance. See video and photos and the Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild Lyrics here.It was the April 14, 2009 American Idol Goes to the Movies week variously known as Idol at the Silver Screen, Cinema Week, and Songs From The Cinema, with legendary film director Quentin Tarantino as the contestants’ mentor and gave us the well-chosen Adam Lambert Born to Be Wild video which we can watch as we see the continued ascendancy of the Season 8 favorite.

Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild lyrics and song were written by Mars Bonfire, and it is the Canadian rock band, Steppenwolf, that made the song their signature hit in 1968. It is among the first heavy metal songs written, perhaps instrumental in establishing the genre. The song was part of the movie soundtrack for the 1969 classic film, Easy Rider which starred Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda.Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild lyrics and song has been covered by numerous artists, from Wilson Pickett to Ozzy Osbourne (with Miss Piggy).

Now with the Adam Lambert Born to be Wild performance, the classic song is heard once again, this time in the Idol candidate’s signature no holds barred performing style, which had him in his full rock star mode.As he has done with all of his performance, notably his performances of Tears for Fears Mad World and the Smokey Robinson classic, Tracks of My Tears, the Idol frontrunner has given it his unique spin.

Due to time constraints only two judges commented on each performance. The Adam Lambert Born to be Wild performance was critiqued by Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.Paula Abdul had high praise for the performance and for the singer in general to whom she said ‘you dare to dance in the path of greatness,” and ‘one of the bravest contestants ever.’

Simon Cowell was more reserved in praise. He acknowledged it as vocally ‘incredible’ but took issue with the Adam Lambert Born to Be Wild interpretation which he likened to ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show. The singer has an unbridled approach and proven star power. He continues to be the Idol favorite as the season 8 continues and he competes against the remaining contestants Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, and Matt Giraud still in the contest. Here is a recap of all of the performances.

Adam Lambert Mad World American Idol Performance April 7

Adam Lambert Mad World American Idol Performance April 7

Watch the Adam Lambert ‘Mad World’ video here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered another standout performance. It was ‘American Idol’ Year They Were Born Wish List night on American Idol Top 8 night on April 7, 2009. Born in 1982, the 27-Year-old Adam Lambert from Hollywood, California picked a hit single from that Year, the Tears for Fears Mad World and, as with every song he covers, he made it his own.

The British rock band saw the single reach No. 3 on the UK singles chart and reach the Top 40 in several countries bringing the band international recognition and popularity. It appeared on the band’s debut album in 1983, The Hurting.

Tears for Fears Mad World lyrics and song were written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith. The song topped the charts in the UK when was covered in 2003 by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko.

Now with the Adam Lambert Tears for Fears performance, the song sees yet another resurgence of popularity. He performed the song in a stripped down and subtle piano-driven orchestral arrangement showcasing the sheer beauty of his voice and the emotional intensity he brought to the song. It led the audience to burst into sporadic screaming and cheering on and off throughout the song.

As he has done with all of his performance, notably the Adam Lambert Ring of Fire cover of the Johnny Cash classic, the Idol hopeful made Tears for Fears Mad World his own.

He was the last performer of the evening and with the program already running overtime, there was time for only one judge’s response. And that was Simon Cowell who said, ‘I think words are unnecessary but I want to give you a standing ovation.” This brought American Idol Season 8 Top 8 to a rousing conclusion.

Previously, the singer has delivered exceptional performances, including the aforementioned Adam Lambert Ring of Fire on Grand Ole Opry week, under the mentorship of country music star Randy Travis, with a sitar driven arrangement evoking a Led Zeppelin/Jeff Buckley Ring of Fire that seemed to fuse Ravi Shankar and The Doors.

He followed with the Adam Lambert Tracks Of My Tears under mentorship of the songwriter, Motown legend Smokey Robinson who said in the televised interview that he was ‘very proud of Adam’s interpretation of the song.’

He sang Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for his original American Idol audition and went on to delivered a powerhouse performance of The Rolling Stones’ iconic song “Satisfaction.” All four judges concurred that the singer had reached a high level of accomplishment that made him a standout among contestants. Not finished dazzlingly the audience, Adam Lambert delivered such a strong performance of “Black and White” on Michael Jackson week, Randy Jackson told him, ‘You could make a record right now and it would sail right to the top.’

Adam Lambert most recently was a sensation on the Randy Travis-mentored Grand Ole Opry week on American Idol as he sang a cover of country music legend Johnny Cash’s signature song Ring of Fire. The arrangement was scored with sitars and was reminiscent of a Led Zeppelin/Jeff Buckley Ring of Fire. Or perhaps a mashup of Ravi Shankar and The Doors.

The performance is sure to be an American Idol season 8 classic. Simon Cowell after expressing the opinion that the performance might be enough to cause people to ‘throw their television sets out the window,’ went on to throw his own metaphorical TV out the window by saying, ‘I thought the performance was absolute indulgent rubbish’ and ‘really, really horrific!’ But Randy Jackson assessed as ‘Nine Inch Nails doing a country song,’ and added, ‘It’s young! It’s fresh! It’s hot!’

Adam Lambert is not going unnoticed on YouTube. It isn’t just the videos of his performances, there are scores of tribute videos; slide shows of photographs fans have taken the time and trouble to upload and set to his studio recordings. It would appear to add up to bankable star power and that he is a hunk in the Twilight tradition, indeed another Robert Pattinson.

There is endless speculation, as people search for the definitive answer to the question: Is Adam Lambert gay? Photos surfaced that led some to that conclusion. In the larger context, there has been discussion as to whether married Idol members must, similarly downplay their marital status. It is somewhat reminiscent of Old Hollywood where the illusion factory needed seemingly single and available stars to fuel public imagination and passion.

Here are pictures of American Idol’s Adam Lambert. Adam Lambert hit up American Idol but is currently in WICKED. Lambert can sing, really sing. Adam Lambert clearly was liked by all four American Idol judges - who all agreed he had a great voice and seemed to really enjoy him personally too.

Adam Lambert showed up on American Idol San Fransisco auditions and with a strong performance of the Queen hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" Lambert received four yes's for him to move forward in the show. Adam Lambert is use to being in the spotlight for he has appeared on stage for the Broadway show Wicked and also had a role in The Ten Commandments. I am not sure how big of a fan Paula Abdul is going to be after Adam mentioned that he saw the American Idol judge in concert when he was ten.
