'Hell's Kitchen' : Season 5 Premiere

'Hell's Kitchen' : Season 5 Premiere

It's the premiere of Season 5 of Hell's Kitchen, and this season Gordon Ramsay himself promises the most intense, most shocking season of the cooking competition yet. Which means one thing: some of this year's chefs are going to make him very, very angry. I can't wait!

But before we get to this year's crap-making “muppets,” the Hell's Kitchen producers want us to realize how tough the application process was this year. More than ever before, in the tens of thousands, chefs applied to undergo Ramsay's systematic culinary torture. 300 were invited to the set of HK to meet the man, and 16 from that pool were then chosen to compete for this year's grand prize: the executive chef position at a brand new fine-dining restaurant in the Borgata Resort in Atlantic City. Oh, and $250,000. So it's a pretty sweet gig. But it won't be easy to win.

The first challenge for our 16 castigation-seeking chefs: the Signature Dish Challenge. Ramsay's special spittoon stands ready by his side, and even though this cast of cooks has been deemed the best yet, the bin is still guaranteed to get some “unbelievable CRAP” spewed into it.

Sarah Symonds Is Dating Gordon Ramsay!

Chef Gordon Ramsay and wife of 12 years, Tana
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has allegedly been having an affair with author and “professional mistress” Sarah Symonds for seven years.A stark departure from his family man image, Gordon Ramsay has allegedly been having an affair since 2001 with author and “professional mistress” Sarah Symonds. The pair supposedly recently spent about 75 minutes together in a hotel room. Just prior to this tryst, Sarah was seen purchasing legal sex drugs at a sex shop.

Sarah Symonds, from Newport, UK, is an author who is best known for having affairs with married men. Born in 1971, she is a former sales and marketing executive who famously had an affair with novelist and Tory Lord Jeffrey Archer. The affair prompted her to write the book Having an Affair?: A Handbook for the “Other Woman,” which she promoted on an episode of Oprah in 2007. She also writes fairly regularly on her personal blog.

An excerpt from her book:“Even if it’s ‘only’ great sex, a promotion at work, or a bit of help with the deposit on that new car, get something for yourself, please. Just to offset that gnawing feeling of being ’second best’ that will unfortunately become as second nature to you as the affair progresses.”

Despite once saying “I am reformed. I would rather be alone than ever again have to face the utter loneliness a mistress feels in an affair,” Sarah Symonds is again making headlines for having an affair, this time with TV and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The pair met in 2001 and exchanged cell numbers, and reportedly began an intimate relationship several weeks later. They allegedly met at a hotel for sex in mid-November 2008. Just prior to this meeting, Sarah was seen at the sex shop Simply Pleasures, where she purchased three small yellow bottles of amyl nitrate, branded Rave and Rush. These pills, called “poppers” are legal sex drugs that are said to enhance one’s sexual experience. A source claimed chef Gordon Ramsay asked her to purchase these. They reportedly spent 75 minutes together before Ramsay left the hotel through his restaurant.

Sante La Brea Features On Kitchen Nighmares

Sante La Brea Features On Kitchen Nighmares
Kitchen Nighmares is headed west to help a Hollywood eatery. Sante La Brea has a hot tempered owner named Dean who can’t get along with his son and Mark the manager who prefers interior design to working the line. They’re menu is health food, with a nice outdoor eating area. Unfortunately, the food is terrible and they don’t get any repeat customers.Sammy and Arthur have worked for their father since they were teens, and they don’t really remember the restaurant being busy. It’s having a crisis, now, though and Chef Ramsay is their last hope. The day Ramsay is to arrive, head chef Aurelio doesn’t bother to show up to work.

Ramsay is impressed with the location, one of the busiest streets in Los Angeles and surrounded by successful restaurants. Dean eats a handful of sprouts straight out of the ground to impress Ramsay, but Gordon’s confused on the menu. It’s a vegan restaurant, but they also serve fish and chicken.Manager Mark introduces himself, and discusses how he is trying to make the restaurant hip and homey. “I want it to be like no place you’ve ever seen,” Mark says. “You’ve definitely done that,” Ramsay says. Sammy is the server today, and serves up the bad food.

The turkey melt is horrible with dry meat and greasy bread. Ramsay feeds it to a nearby dog. A tofu dish is up next, a ring of overcooked veggies surrounding an overcooked lump of rice. “Shocking. My God!” Ramsay says. Mark hopes that Ramsay can get through to Dean about the food - it smells and tastes bad. The blackened salmon is burnt and Ramsay thinks the meat is spoiled. He wonders if the refrigerator is working properly. “It’s hideous,” he tells Dean.

Hannah And Mason's, Cranbury, NJ On Kitchen Nightmares

Hannah And Mason's, Cranbury, NJ On Kitchen Nightmares

Kitchen Nightmares heads just an hour outside of bustling New York City to a little hamlet in New Jersey. Owners of Hannah and Mason’s Restaurant have called for help, and it’s no wonder. Friends Chris and Brian are running the restaurant into the ground.

Brian is the chef, and he’s easy going and lazy. He’s not the take charge type, and doesn’t lead the kitchen. Chris feels that he does all the work and pays all of the bills. He orders the food, manages the staff, and then works as a line cook. Brian doesn’t feel like working too much, so the restaurant is only open three nights a week. They’re bouncing checks, and their waitress has to ask if her paycheck is good before she puts it in the bank. They definitely need a Ramsay intervention!

It’s Valentine’s Day, a monster day for restaurants. Ramsay notices the sign on the awning is missing a letter, and the manager is just 23 years old. He orders baked onion soup, quiche, and a lamb lollipop. The soup is covered with a mountain of greasy onion rings, followed with a thick layer of cheese. “It’s absolutely tasteless,” he says, “it tastes like the gunk from the dishwasher.” Brian’s in denial. “I find it hard that it’s as bad as he says,” the chef snaps. The lamb is undercooked, and the sauce is too sweet. Ramsay thinks the quiche tastes like it’s been left out of the fridge too long, and it’s runny.

Kitchen Nightmares: Handlebar Restaurant

Kitchen Nightmares: Handlebar Restaurant
Ramsay visits the Handlebar Restaurant and Lounge in Mount Sinai, where the owners are in denial about the restaurant's outdated decor and the head chef's lack of passion. After last week’s touchy-feely love fest, this week gets us back to the Kitchen Nightmares we know and love. This week Gordon is traveling to Mt. Sinai, New York to visit The Handlebar. The Handlebar is owned by Billy, a former construction worker, and his beleagured wife.

Despite the fact that the 18-table dining room is empty most nights, and the fact that they’re on Kitchen Nightmares, Billy and his wife are confused as to why Ramsay thinks they have a problem. They think they’re food is great, their chef is great, and everything is working well. While they have no self-awareness, their chef, Melissa, certainly does.
