Sara Evans Got Married to Jay Barker

Country star Sara Evans has married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker, the AP reports.Lori Genes, the singer’s publicist at Sony BMG Nashville, told The Associated Press on Monday that Evans and Barker had married but didn’t provide details of the wedding. People magazine reported on its Web site that the outdoor ceremony took place Saturday on a farm in Franklin, Tennessee.

The 37-year-old singer filed for divorce from Craig Schelske in October 2006 after 13 years of marriage. The divorce was completed last September.Barker led Alabama to a national championship in 1992 and hosts a radio show in Birmingham.I didn’t even know they were dating, to be honest. Then again, those of you who weren’t attending the University of Alabama or fans of its football team sixteen years ago, as I was, have likely never heard of Jay Barker.

Jay Barker Is Engaged To Sara Evans

Jay Barker is a former quarterback at the University of Alabama where he won a national championship in 1992. Barker is also the boyfriend of country singer Sara Evans.Jay and Sara have been dating for over a year and recently announced their engagement through Sara’s rep.“The couple are enjoying their engagement and look forward to their upcoming nuptials.”Sara just went through a widely-publicized divorce with Craig Schelske that finalized in September. She has three children from her former marriage and Jay has four so it looks like they’ll have a full house.

Jay Barker was born July 20, 1972 which makes his age 35. He had a very successful football career at Alabama with a record of 35-2-1 while winning the a national championship and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1994. Barker went on to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He then returned to Birmingham to play for the Thunderbolts of the XFL.

After his playing career was over, Barker took a job in television working as an analyst on ESPN Radio and co-hosting a morning show at WJOX Radio in Birmingham. Sara has been a frequent in-studio guest of his program. Barker is said to be announcing the engagement on air tomorrow morning but no word on an actual date for the nuptials.Jay’s previous marriage to Amy Barker lasted 14 years. Rumors on the internet claim Amy left Jay for her tennis instructor. It’s also been said that Jay and Sara met through their marriage therapist. I can’t help but be reminded of the saying ‘what starts in chaos, usually ends in chaos.’
