Prince Harry makes Diana Proud
Prince Harry is making Diana proud as he follows in her footsteps of helping others. He has been working to refurbish a school for mentally and physically disabled children in Africa - the school run by the charity he established in Diana’s memory.
Prince Harry doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. In fact, he says he loves it. On Tuesday he pushed wheelbarrows of cement mixture, hammered nails and did whatever else needed to be done as he helped transform a run down school in the African kingdom of Lesotho into a place where mentally and physically disabled children can learn. The school is run by the charity that Prince Harry founded in memory of Princess Diana. Lesotho is a poor country in Africa with a high occurence of HIV and AIDS and where the life expectancy is only about 35 years.
“It would be wrong to be a patron of a charity and not get involved. It’s been massively rewarding,” Harry said as he showed reporters around Tuesday, his khaki trousers dusty with red dirt. “The changes I see are fantastic. This is about the children of Lesotho, the vulnerable children of Lesotho.” Asked if Princess Diana, known for her charity work around the world, would be proud, he said simply: “I hope so.”This is what true royalty is - someone who recognizes that the best way to respond to life’s blessings is to use one’s gifts to help others. I think Diana would be proud indeed.
