Kara says "you're an "amazing strategist, you did your own version". Paula calls it "a brilliant choice of song and superb performance." Simon says "It was a brilliant, brilliant performance."Tonight on "American Idol" the final three are singing a song chosen by the judges as well as a song of their own choice.Paula, selected Terence Trent D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister" for Danny, and Simon picked either U2's "One" or Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" for Adam. Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12 (Video)

Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12
Kris Allen Heartless video - Tonight was the time for the top 3 performances on American Idol, and Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kriss Allen each sang one song they choose and another one chosen by the judges.Kris Allen may have had the best performance of the night with his rendition of Heartless, a song by Kanye West. You can check out the Kris Allen Heartless video below:

The night started off with so-so performances from Danny, Kris, and yes, even Adam. His take on U2’s “One” started off strong, but slid into screechy territory. Danny’s song was forgettable, and Kris was too low-key with “Apologize.” The song selections proved the judges don’t have a firm handle on who the singers are as artists. For Round 2, the contestants chose their own songs, and each showed his true “artistry” (shout out to Kara!).

Danny chose the perfect song for his raspy vocals — Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful”; Kris reinvented Kanye West’s “Heartless,” while Adam rocked it out with Aerosmith’s “Cryin.”Simon astutely reminded the audience not to “assume” that Adam was going to make it to the finals. And indeed, tonight the contestants proved it was best to check your assumptions at the door.

Kris Allen sang "Heartless" by Kanye West on American Idol, May 12.Outstanding performance - probably the best from Kris so far, potentially a game-changer.Randy says "It was better than the original!" ( couldn't agree more with Randy), "you're in it to win it, I love it, baby." Kara calls it "bold, brave, fearless." Paula says you sang a song about Simon; Bravo! Simon loved his performance too.

Adam Lambert “Feeling Good” American Idol April 28 Rat Pack Performance

Adam Lambert “Feeling Good” American Idol April 28 Rat Pack Performance

See the Adam Lambert Feeling Good video, lyrics here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered a stellar performance. It was American Idol Rat Pack Night April 28, 2009 with Grammy Award and Academy Award winning singer and actor Jaime Foxx mentoring the contestants as they sang standards from the Rat Pack era, whose core members included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and Joey Bishop.

From the standards songs of this era, our American Idol contestants made their song choices. The Adam Lambert Feeling Good lyrics and song were nwritten by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1965 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd. In 1965, Rat Pack member Sammy Davis Jr. recorded the song for his album The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show.

The Adam Lambert Feeling Good performance raised the bar once again as the singer continues to rack up one standout performance after another. His disco week performance of the Saturday Night Live classic, If I Can’t Have You was also noteworthy The tender side of the performer is equally mesmerizing as the singer dons slicked back hair and a suit, evoking an iconic Elvis Presley look. We can add the Adam Lampert Feeling Good video to the long list of favorites alongside Steppenwolf Born to be Wild, Tears for Fears Mad World and the Smokey Robinson classic, Tracks of My Tears.

The singer brought his theatrics to a new level, literally, as he descended the stairs which were illuminated in soft pink light as he wore a white suit. The cheering crowd is nothing new, but tonight the cheering was so spirited one might have thought the singer had won American Idol already.

The judges rendered their assessment one by one.Randy Jackson said he was ‘a little theatrical’ but noted that the singer ‘was always in the zone.’ Kara Dioguardi said in a word, he was ’superb.’ Paula Abdul compared watching him to watching Michael Phelps win Olympic Gold medals.Simon Cowell dryly responded to Randy Jackson by said that complaining that Adam Lambert was theatrical was like complaining a cow is mooing. He went on to deliver his share of praise noting the competitiveness of the singer. “Winning is important,’ he said. ‘You want to win and you want to prove a point every week.’

In singing Adam Lambert Feeling Good video the singer is seen further demonstrates the star quality that wins him acclaim from fans and judges alike. Here is an assessment of his vocal talents and strengths. He continues to be the Idol favorite as the season 8 continues and he competes against the remaining contestants Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, and Matt Giraud. Here is a recap of all of the performances and of the entire American Idol Top 5 April 28, 2009 show. Randy Jackson Journey On American Idol (Photo&Video)

Randy Jackson Journey On American Idol

The opening minutes of tonight’s American Idol season 8 auditions in Jacksonville, Florida might have taken a lot of AI fans by surprise, because they just saw Randy Jackson, the “dawg” himself, perform with 80s rock band Journey! That’s right. long before the American Idol season 8 judge became a record producer who boasts (he actually does this on the show, literally) of having worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, he was one of the members of Journey

American idol certainly seems as if it is off to a very slow start. But on Tuesday night the audience was treated to a bit of vintage video featuring a plump and dated Randy Jackson when he appeared with the rock band Journey. While the band was very popular in the late seventies and early eighties and Randy always seems to mention his stint, exactly when was he in the band?

Wiki rescues with this, "After the widely successful Frontiers stadium tour, Journey decided to take some time off. Lead singer Steve Perry and guitarist Neal Schon both pursued solo projects between 1982 and 1985. In 1985 the band released two songs previously intended for Frontiers--Only the Young, on the soundtrack to the movie Vision Quest; and Ask the Lonely, on the soundtrack to the movie Two of a Kind."

"Only the Young" managed to nick the top ten, reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. When Journey finally returned to record their 1986 album Raised on Radio, bass player Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith were fired from the band for musical and professional differences."Enter Jackson. "Studio musicians handled the two vacant slots, including future American Idol judge Randy Jackson and established session player Larrie Londin. The album went multiplatinum selling over two million copies...the tour was videotaped by MTV and made into a documentary, which included interviews with the current band members and concert footage of the Mountain Aire Festival show in Angels Camp, California. Steve Perry left Journey in 1987.
