'American Idol' Top 3 Revealed as Allison Iraheta is Out:No Doubt,Gwen Stefani&Chris Daughtry Performed

Allison Iraheta, 'American Idol'

One more contestant in "American Idol" takes the fall. Allison Iraheta, the 16-year-old red hair has been eliminated from the competition after being put on the bottom two with Danny Gokey. Ryan Seacrest said that 64 million votes were cast the night before (May 5). Choked up in tears when her montage was played, Allison then took the stage for one last time to sing her rendition of Janis Joplin's "Cry Baby". She hugged Paula Abdul during the performance and the others afterward.

With the departure of Allison, the top 3 is officially dominated by males. Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen will battle it out next week with two songs each. One song will be picked by the judges while another one is left for the contestant to choose.

Guest performances of the result night were coming from the reunited No Doubt and former Idol finalist Chris Daughtry who was there with his band DAUGHTRY to debut the new single from their upcoming album. Paula Abdul was also on the stage to sing her new single "('m Just) Here For The Music".No Doubt next to perform on American Idol, doing "Just a Girl." Gwen Stefani's not lip-synching, it's a raw, real performance even after all these years. Crowd's reallly into it; I'd say it's one of the better Wednesday performances we've had.

And Gwen Stefani, who blasted in from the past with "I'm Just a Girl," said that "the whole point" of her band's upcoming tour, kicking off next week in Las Vegas, is to prepare their fans for a new No Doubt album.

Adam Lambert Born To Be Wild Video

Adam Lambert Born to be Wild Video, american idol
Watch the Adam Lambert ‘Born to be Wild’ video here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered a stellar performance. See video and photos and the Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild Lyrics here.It was the April 14, 2009 American Idol Goes to the Movies week variously known as Idol at the Silver Screen, Cinema Week, and Songs From The Cinema, with legendary film director Quentin Tarantino as the contestants’ mentor and gave us the well-chosen Adam Lambert Born to Be Wild video which we can watch as we see the continued ascendancy of the Season 8 favorite.

Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild lyrics and song were written by Mars Bonfire, and it is the Canadian rock band, Steppenwolf, that made the song their signature hit in 1968. It is among the first heavy metal songs written, perhaps instrumental in establishing the genre. The song was part of the movie soundtrack for the 1969 classic film, Easy Rider which starred Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda.Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild lyrics and song has been covered by numerous artists, from Wilson Pickett to Ozzy Osbourne (with Miss Piggy).

Now with the Adam Lambert Born to be Wild performance, the classic song is heard once again, this time in the Idol candidate’s signature no holds barred performing style, which had him in his full rock star mode.As he has done with all of his performance, notably his performances of Tears for Fears Mad World and the Smokey Robinson classic, Tracks of My Tears, the Idol frontrunner has given it his unique spin.

Due to time constraints only two judges commented on each performance. The Adam Lambert Born to be Wild performance was critiqued by Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.Paula Abdul had high praise for the performance and for the singer in general to whom she said ‘you dare to dance in the path of greatness,” and ‘one of the bravest contestants ever.’

Simon Cowell was more reserved in praise. He acknowledged it as vocally ‘incredible’ but took issue with the Adam Lambert Born to Be Wild interpretation which he likened to ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show. The singer has an unbridled approach and proven star power. He continues to be the Idol favorite as the season 8 continues and he competes against the remaining contestants Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, and Matt Giraud still in the contest. Here is a recap of all of the performances.

American Idol Season 8 Top 12 Performance

American Idol Season 8 Top 12 Performance

America already has chosen three of this season's "American Idol"'s Top 12: Alexis Grace, Danny Gokey and Michael Sarver. Wednesday night in a two-hour live event, 12 more of the Top 36 performed songs from Billboard's Hot 100 in hopes of making the cut.

Jasmine Murray — Love Song: I saw Sara Bareilles sing this in concert. Just had to share. This girl is no Sara Bareilles; it was pitchy in parts, but it seems like a good song choice. She’s a good performer. Hmmm. Overall, I’m disappointed.

Matt Giraud — Viva la Vida: Love Coldplay. This guy has potential, but I’m not sure he’s Top 12 material. The judges are on my page.

Jeanine Vailes — This Love: I want to come back in my next life with her legs. That is all. I like the song, and I like how she makes it her own, but it’s just not working for her.

PSA: The judges complain that the contestants are choosing the wrong songs so why don’t the producers allow the judges to HELP THEM CHOOSE THE RIGHT SONGS!? It would make the show SO much better.

Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle (or whatever he’s going by this week) — Living Without You: I really don’t know what to make of this guy. If he can sing, he’s sure is trying awfully hard to hide it. Randy calls it entertaining. I think that’s being generous. Paula calls him memorable. Perhaps.

Allison Iraheta — Alone: One of my favorite songs; pretty ambitious for a 16-year-old. Why am I doubtful she can bring it? Okay so that’s… wow. I’m pleasantly surprised. She has a very individual sound. I love it when Randy says “blew it out the box”. I always want to say that but I could never pull it off.

Kris Allen — Man in the Mirror: What a cutie. But can we ban all Michael Jackson songs from this competition from now on? Kthanksbai. Okay so yeah, he’s a really good performer. I’m liking this, Michael Jackson and all. He comes into his own towards the end. I don’t remember him in Hollywood so I’m not sure what Kara’s talking about. Interesting, judges are divided. Glad to know I’m not totally off base.

Megan Joy Corkrey — Put Your Records On: Great song. She’s adorable. Feeling optimistic. Oh this isn’t quite what I was hoping for. I dunno. Paula loves her. Simon’s onto something — it got shouty at the end. And yikes, Megan’s saying she rocked it in that part. Now you know I don’t like it when the contestants argue with the judges. I’m with Simon — I want her to get voted thru, but she didn’t nail it tonight.

Matt Breitzke — If You Could Only See: Great song. Awww, he’s like a big teddy bear. I want to like him, but I’m afraid this is just really good karaoke. Is it just me, or is Simon nicer this year?

Jesse Langseth — Betty Davis Eyes: She’s gorgeous. Now let’s see if she can sing. And she CAN. I’m liking this chick. But next time she needs to finish knitting her sweater before appearing on national TV. Was she just trying not to yawn? Yeah, I’m with Randy on the 5-note range. Nevermind the part about Simon being nicer this year. Telling people they are forgettable is so rude. Ugh.

Kai Kalama — What Becomes of the Broken Hearted: Eh. He’s good, I guess. I’m too distracted by that mop on his head to be objective about the performance. There’s potential there, but I’m not sure he’s Top 12 material.

Mishavonna Henson — Drops of Jupiter: I’m always intrigued by those who are cut and come back to get through the following year. That was strange. There were parts that were all there and there were other parts that were really baaaaad. The judges keep saying she’s a good singer, but there were parts of that song that were very off.

Adam Lambert — Satisfaction: Oh yeah. Awesome song. I LURV THE STONES. Yes I realize he just said it’s his MOTHER’S favorite band. I’m 36 going on 50. This guy has mad talent, but I’ve always found him a bit uncomfortable to watch, and tonight is no different. Yes, thank you Simon! “There were some parts that were excruciatingly bad and parts that were brilliant.” That pretty much sums it up for me too. But I can’t see NOT voting him through. He’s got amazing potential, once he drops that affected stage persona.

See Jesse Langseth “Betty Davis Eyes” video here.

What DID Happen to Bucky Covington?

Bucky Covington on American Idol

Tonight on “American Idol”, Brent Keith sang the country song “Hick Town”, trying to show fans who he really is and take them back to his roots. Although the performance received pretty good reviews from Randy, Kara, and of course Paula, Simon wasn’t sold. Paula had compared Keith to Josh Gracin, Bo Bice and Bucky Covington, in the end saying “look what happened to Bucky Covington.” This statement prompted Simon Cowell to say, “What DID happen to Bucky Covington”, and then went on to say that Paula’s statement said it perfectly, calling Keith’s rendition of “Hick Town” “forgettable”. So it begs the question, what did happen to Bucky Covington?

So, to answer Simon’s question, here is the latest in Bucky Covington news. Today he launched a USO tour, starting in Kosovo and traveling to Germany from there. He’s excited at the chance to meet the soldiers and see the world,“I’ve been looking forward to doing a USO tour for a very long time. To be able to perform for and meet the men and women who serve our country is a great honor. I’m also really excited to bring a little bit of home to our troops overseas, and since this will be my first trip outside the U.S., except for a short visit to Jamaica, I know it’ll be a big adventure.”

Bucky Covington was born on November 8, 1977, so his age is 31. He grew up in Rockingham, North Carolina with his twin brother, Rocky. He bought his first guitar after high school and taught himself how to play. The musically-inclined up-and-comer also plays the bass and drums. He worked in his dad’s auto body shop and played as many shows as he could land.

Bucky got his big break on season 5 of the hit reality television show, “American Idol”. Though he finished 8th, he went on to score a record deal and make a go of it in the country music industry. After his final appearance on the show, he got several phone calls with offers of record deals. In the end, he went with O-Seven Artist Management, who handles Sawyer Brown. His self-titled debut album hit shelves April 17, 2007, debuting at #1 on the country charts.Bucky gives his success up to the idea of what goes around comes around, saying,“It’s the karma thing. I’ve always believed in treating people well anybody and everybody and I try to live by the Golden Rule. And I think a lot of it came back to me.”

Katrina Darrell - American Idol Bikini Girl Pictures

Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell on American Idol 8

‘American Idol’ is back, as Season 8 premieres tonight! David Archuleta, Season 7 runner-up, told me in an interview last night he can’t wait to tune in!Archuleta hinted that he might be interested in returning to the show as a mentor, because he knows just how the contestants feel. He also says Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks inspired him during his run on the show.

FOX News crews in Los Angeles interviewed judge Randy Jackson last night. He says he saw great talents in Salt Lake City, Kansas City and in Puerto Rico. Plus, the new fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi, stopped by FOX News headquarters in New York last week to give us a sneak peek at the show. She told us about one of the hopefuls we’ll see on tonight’s premiere.

“We call her bikini girl because she came in in a bikini which she looked amazing in, but this wasn’t a Coppertone commercial, this was a singing competition. And it’s really difficult to judge someone in a bikini and take seriously what they were singing.”Katrina Darrell, American Idol's Bikini Girl -- who would have stole the show if it wasn't for Scottt MacIntyre -- is from California, so chances are she's not that girl you made out with after a crazy night at Pussycat Lounge.

American Idol 8: American Idol New Judge Kara DioGuardi

It’s finally time for American Idol 8 to return to television! Returning for another season are judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson, who are joined by a new face, Kara DioGuardi, who has worked with Jewel, Pink, Celine Dion, and The Pussycat Dolls! This time around FOX heads to Phoenix, Arizona to begin the search for this season’s idol!American Idol 8 begins with a tribute to the past seven seasons, and a replay of the American Idol 7 finale wherein David Cook beat David Archuleta. Host Ryan Seacrest, perched at the top of the Grand Canyon asks, “Who will be next?”

New American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is engaged! "Kara DioGuardi and former school teacher turned general contractor Mike McCuddy were engaged on December 8th while on holiday in Mexico," her rep tells Entertainment Tonight."My Bra" -- slang in the breast cancer community for the word "friend" -- was written by Kara DioGuardi (Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani) and James Poyser (Common, Lauryn Hill). R&B singer Mya recorded "My Bra," which will be featured throughout the cable network's 13th annual Stop Breast Cancer for Life advocacy campaign.

DioGuardi, whose mother died of ovarian cancer in 1997, says she was initially taken aback by the term "my bra.""But after it was explained, I understood. The urban sensibility of James' track underscores the term and has a bittersweetness to it, an emotion most experience when dealing with cancer. It was an experience very close to me. I literally wrote the song in five minutes."Watch Kara DioGuardi Sings "My Bra" (Cancer Awareness song) video here.

Paula Abdul's Stalker Paula Goodspeed Found Dead

hot Paula Abdul
Described by her parents as “an extreme fan,” 30-year-old former American Idol contestant Paula Godspeed was found dead yesterday morning in front of the Sherman Oaks, California home of Idol judge Paula Abdul.“This individual had an infatuation with Ms. Abdul,” Capt. Jim Miller of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told a Los Angeles-based reporter with Fox News.

Late yesterday afternoon, a reporter with TMZ snapped a photograph of the automobile in which Godspeed was found. The license plate read “ABL LV,” which could be an abbreviation of “Abdul Love.”“That’s certainly an obsessive behavior,” says Dr. Karen Abrams, an expert in women’s mental health and stalking at Toronto General Hospital. According to Dr. Abrams, an “extreme fan” may attempt something like suicide or murder in order to link themselves with a celebrity.

“It could be precipitated with the realization that they were never going to enter into a relationship,” says Dr. Abrams, who adds that sensational celebrity-related crimes have spiked in proportion to the media’s coverage of entertainer’s private lives. “If you’re lonely and mentally unstable, this kind of coverage creates a false sense of intimacy,” Dr. Abrams said.

A representative for Ms. Abdul said that Ms. Godspeed was known to Abdul and her staff. E! News reported that Godspeed had been stalking Abdul for 17 years. After twice auditioning for the program, she appeared in a 2006 episode in which she talked about being influence by Abdul.

“I make life-sized drawings of Paula,” she said. “I have since I was a little girl.” “Brace yourself, Paula, for your number one fan,” said host Ryan Seacrest before Godspeed performed a version of Ike and Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, which the judges said left them “speechless.”“That was terrible, what was that?” judge Randy Jackson said.

When Godspeed was reported missing by her parents on Tuesday night, they gave the authorities Ms. Abdul’s address as a possible lead. Like previous stalking cases involving David Letterman and Madonna, Dr. Abrams believes this may be a case of an unstable person trying to tie themselves to a star.

American Idol: Top 2

Syesha Mercado
It'll be David vs. David. Syesha Mercado was voted off "American Idol" Wednesday night, paving the way for the expected showdown between David Archuleta and David Cook.Mercado, a 21-year-old actress from Sarasota, Fla., was the last woman standing on the top-rated Fox contest. The big-voiced belter surpassed a more accomplished singer (Carly Smithson), a fan favorite (Brooke White) and a statuesque country crooner (Kristy Lee Cook).

While other contestants floundered, Mercado challenged herself with ambitious song choices like Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come." She showed more personality — and lots of leg — while swiveling her hips in a glittery gold minidress for a rendition of "Proud Mary." She cried when Paula Abdul gave her a standing ovation last week.Abdul held the sugar on Tuesday's performance show, telling Mercado that she thought her performance of "Hit Me Up" wasn't "good enough to get into the finals."

With Mercado out of the way, "Idol" can now fully hype the David vs. David matchup. There's Archuleta, the 17-year-old singing prodigy from Murray, Utah, with the overly involved stage dad. And there's Cook, the 25-year-old former bartender from Blue Springs, Mo., with an emo edge that the angelic Arculeta lacks.

American Idol :"Paula Abdul rumors"

Paula Abdul
It was her week, Brooke White got the boot from "American Idol" on Wednesday night leaving David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado as the final four contestants."Thank you," was pretty much all White had to say at the end of the "Idol" results show before she attempted to sing wading through her own tears.Brooke was just the latest casualty of what seems to be shaping up as a battle of the Davids.Next week the contestants will take on rock music, so it is definitely David Cook's week. Polls show David Archuleta is most likely to win this year's "American Idol" title.

During the live show, host Ryan Seacrest also addressed the "rumors" that Paula Abdul was going to get the boot from "American Idol" herself.Abdul critiqued contestant Jason Castro on both of his performances even though he had only sang once. This sparked speculation among gossip columns that someone else might be writing Paula's comments or that "American Idol" might be scripted. On Wednesday's results show, Seacrest said Abdul was a part of the family and loved. Awww. Warm and fuzzies. As for the other people competing to stay on the show, Brooke White got voted off. That leaves David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado as the top 4!

American Idol : Top 10 Performed

American Idol
Tonight, the Top 10 guys take to the stage on American Idol.Judge Randy Jackson hopes the guys' nerves are gone now that they're through the first week, and Paula Abdul says they are finding their comfort level. Simon says everyone needs to "be better."And this week's theme is the 1970s. Wow, what a departure from last week!

Michael Johns interviews about his love for tennis and how it helps keep him centered. He sings Fleetwood Mac's "You Can Go Your Own Way." He's a little bouncy and overly dependent on the vibrato for my tastes, but let's turn to the judges. Randy says it wasn't his best, but he got into it and let go. Paula says he's "consistent, consistent" and has the whole crowd behind him. Simon: "Michael, it was OK; it was by far your weakest performance in the whole competition so far." He says he didn't have "a moment." Michael says it's been a dream of his to sing a Fleetwood Mac song, so, regardless of what Simon has to say, it was the right choice for him.

Jason Castro is very low-key and doesn't seem to enjoy the whole interview process, calling himself out for making weird faces because he doesn't know what to say. On stage, he's got his guitar again, and he sings "I Just Want to Be Your Everything." The guitar de-discos it a little, which works in his favor in terms of Simon's favorite "relevance" argument.

Luke Menard says he's part of an a capella group called Chapter 6 and that he loves the challenge because you have to be "flawless." He says it was the best preparation for AI. On stage, he sings Queen's "Killer Queen." He is ... not flawless. Nor is he "fastidious and precise," as the lyrics go. Randy says he picked a very difficult song and that this seemed more like his vibe, and that despite some pitch problems, it was good.

Robbie Carrico talks to Ryan about how he has to prove his authenticity to Simon. In the interview, he says a surprising fact about him is that he drag-races cars (at tracks, not on the street). He hits the stage to sing "Hot Blooded." Randy says he's not totally sure that Robbie has enough "uuuuuhhhh" (my best approximation) to be true rock.Paula says no one knows who you are but you. But she says he played it a little safe this week and that he lost his "character" somewhat in it.

Danny Noriega interviews that something unexpected about him is that he was in a punk-rock band in the ninth grade. On stage, he sings "Superstar," and it's decent but not super-engaging. Randy says he's a fan because Danny's such a fun guy, but that there were some problems with the song vocally. "I felt like you were thinking while you were singing every line. ... Let it go." Paula says he has amazing vocal skill, but he needs to take a deep breath "and forget about us ... just perform."

David Hernandez says he was in gymnastics when he was a kid and that he was pretty good at it back then. He comes out to sing "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone." I really like his voice and I think he handles the song pretty well (with a little bobble on the final note). Paula gives him a standing o. Randy: "Now this is the David Hernandez that we fell in love with. ... That's how to put it down, show your personality, all those vocal skills.

Jason Yeager says he plays multiple instruments, and he's largely self-taught. He sings the Doobie Brothers' "Long Train Runnin'." This is a good match for his voice, I think, and a step up from last week's "Moon River." His delivery is still a little cheeseball, but it's still an improvement.Randy says the 1970s are one of the best times in music and that this song didn't do him justice because it's not a singer's song. He says it was a little karaoke and kind of pitchy.

Chikezie says his "crazy name" is Nigerian and that the true pronunciation got dropped a long time ago, but he's used to it now. He sings "I Believe to My Soul," and it's all right, but I'm not that into it. Randy disagrees, saying, "Chikezie is BACK! ... This is the guy we fell in love with." Paula says it was brilliant and really fun.

David Cook says that he is a word nerd, which I can totally relate to. He comes out on stage bearing an electric guitar to perform "All Right Now." He manages to play to the crowd and work the guitar and stage without being too self-indulgent. Randy: "Listen, to me, you're the real rocker of the boys this year. ... I really liked this." Paula says he's the real deal, and, "You've got it!"

David Archuleta is last up. He says that when he was 11, he got to meet all the season one finalists and sing for them. He's going to sing "Imagine." He just has a lovely, pure voice, and I think I could listen to him all day. Randy: "Dog, that's one of the best vocals I've ever heard on this show. ... You were born to do exactly what you're doing there." Paula, bawling: "David, you are ridiculous, I want to just squish you, squeeze your head off and dangle you from my rearview mirror.

Paula Abdul “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” Video!

Paula Abdul’s music video
We have all been waiting for Paula Abdul’s comeback music video, and the time has finally arrived. Paula’s video “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” has come out and it’s not half bad.The concept is simple, and the dancing and the sequences are pretty good. Aside from the photo frames and the ending shot of Paula, Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell are looking pretty cheesy. It’s not a bad video for someone who hasn’t made music since 1995.For those of you who are enjoying Paula’s flashback, comeback, her new album is reportedly set for a mid-2008 release.

Paula Abdul Tortures American Idol Top 24!

The American Idol 7
The American Idol 7 top 24 semifinalists episode kicked off with Hayden Christensen and Ryan Seacrest enjoying a sandwich on top of the Great Sphinx in Egypt. The scene was of course a promo for the upcoming movie Jumper. However, Seacrest on top of the Great Sphinx turned out not to be the biggest mystery of the American Idol 7 top 24 show.As usual, the contestants rode an elevator up and took a long walk across a big room to find out their fate from the judges. However, instead of being teased and toyed with by Simon Cowell, the contestants were relentlessly tortured by none other than Paula Abdul. Yes, the biggest mystery of the American Idol 7 top 24 show was what turned sweet Paula into the Queen of Mean.

Things started out poorly for the contestants. Ronald Hodge, Nina Shaw, Mycale Guyton, and Lisa Aukerman were all told by the judges that they didn’t make it.Carly Smithson was in tears by the time it was her turn to sit in front of the judges. A merciless Paula Abdul seemed to ramble on forever, before Simon Cowell jumped in and said to just give Carly a yes or a no. The answer was of course yes.
