Hollywood actresses tend to get their inspiration straight from the catwalk.But Drew Barrymore has never been one to follow the crowd - instead choosing to take her style cues from the past.And last night was no different as she arrived for an appearance on the David Letterman show in a black off-the-shoulder Giambattista Valli dress with dramatic oversized puffed sleeves.

Drew accessorised the Eighties style curve-clinging body con dress with stunning cut out ivory and black Giuseppe Zanotti heels.The 34-year-old's flawless pale skin, classic red lipstick and pulled back hair proved the perfect foil to the drama of her dress.Drew has really pulled out all the stops in promoting her new film Grey Gardens.

Hollywood actresses tend to get their inspiration straight from the catwalk.But in a nod to the era covered in her new film Drew Barrymore donned a Roaring Twenties style stunning Alberta Ferretti gown for the premiere of her film Grey Gardens last night.Barrymore, 34, accessorised the stunning nude, silver sequin and embellished tulle gown from Ferretti’s 2009 Autumn/Winter collection with a nude coloured veil and a slash of classic red lipstick for the premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York.

And with her hair teased into a Marcel wave, she looked just like a silent movie film star - with the exaggerated poses to match.Standing alongside the film's co-stars Jessica Lange, 59, and Jeanne Tripplehorn, 45, Drew certainly commanded the limelight with her look which harked back to cinema's golden age.The 34-year-old actress stars in the riches-to-rags story of two charming eccentrics who were relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis - played by Tripplehorn.

The HBO film is based on a documentary made in 1975 by Albert and David Maysles.They spent six weeks with the reclusive mother 'Big Edie' Bouvier Beale (Lange) and daughter 'Little Edie' Bouvier Beale, played by Barrymore, capturing their squalid life in its raw, uncensored moments.The new film also covers the 40 years leading up to their later years and charts the two Beale women's bond, and why they chose to live in squalor and isolation in a decaying, 28-room house in East Hampton until someone finally notified Jackie O of their condition.

Claire Danes is replacing Drew Barrymore as the face of Gucci for their fall 08 ad campaign. The campaign will launch in autumn and Danes is said to be excited to work with Gucci. Drew Barrymore Has Donated $1 Million To The United Nations

Drew Barrymore announced on Monday that she has donated $1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), where she is an Ambassador Against Hunger, to help the agency feed thousands of Kenyan schoolchildren.The personal donation officially kicks off WFP’s ‘Fill the Cup’ challenge to the US which aims to raise enough funds (nearly $3 billion) to help feed 59 million children around the world for a year.Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey Show today, Drew said she had witnessed first-hand the impact hunger has on poor children during two visits to Kenya in the past two years.

“I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child’s life. It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future.”Says the 33-year-old dogooder.Drew donates more than her money, she also puts in the time. She is also the Ambassador Against Hunger for the Program.
