Kris Allen is New American Idol as Adam Lambert Loses:Kris Allen Wins American Idol 2009

Kris Allen is New American Idol as Adam Lambert Loses:Kris Allen Wins American Idol 2009
Kris Allen's smooth vocals and boy-next-door image propelled him to "American Idol" victory Wednesday, turning the theatrical powerhouse Adam Lambert into the most unlikely of also-rans."I'm sorry, I don't even know what to feel right now. This is crazy," said a stunned Allen, 23, of Conway, Ark.As host Ryan Seacrest said in announcing the result of the viewer vote, "The underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over."

Lambert's commanding vocal range and stage presence — and the judges' adoration of him — at times turned "Idol" into "The Adam Lambert Show," with the other contestants mere guests. But it turned out that "Idol" viewers could embrace a gifted performer like Lambert, one who sported black nail polish and bold self-assurance, only to a point.

Simon Cowell tipped his hat to both contestants Wednesday."To both of you, and I don't normally mean this, I thought you were both brilliant. .... The future's all yours," the judge said.

Before the results were announced, Lambert and Allen had a moment of musical camaraderie: They joined together with Queen on the rock anthem "We Are the Champions.""Adam did win. So did Kris. Nobody lost tonight. These are two champions," said Paul Stanley from KISS backstage.

Kris Allen was named the winner of “American Idol” on Wednesday night, receiving more votes than Adam Lambert, who was perceived (by some) to be the likely champion. Even Mr. Allen was slightly stunned by the news: after the host Ryan Seacrest had told him he had won, he said, “Adam deserves this.” (By contrast, Simon Cowell appeared to lodge a silent protest from his seat, declining to stand and applaud Mr. Allen’s victory with his fellow judges.)

Kara says "you're an "amazing strategist, you did your own version". Paula calls it "a brilliant choice of song and superb performance." Simon says "It was a brilliant, brilliant performance."Tonight on "American Idol" the final three are singing a song chosen by the judges as well as a song of their own choice.Paula, selected Terence Trent D'Arby's "Dance Little Sister" for Danny, and Simon picked either U2's "One" or Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" for Adam. Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12 (Video)

Kris Allen Heartless American Idol May 12
Kris Allen Heartless video - Tonight was the time for the top 3 performances on American Idol, and Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey and Kriss Allen each sang one song they choose and another one chosen by the judges.Kris Allen may have had the best performance of the night with his rendition of Heartless, a song by Kanye West. You can check out the Kris Allen Heartless video below:

The night started off with so-so performances from Danny, Kris, and yes, even Adam. His take on U2’s “One” started off strong, but slid into screechy territory. Danny’s song was forgettable, and Kris was too low-key with “Apologize.” The song selections proved the judges don’t have a firm handle on who the singers are as artists. For Round 2, the contestants chose their own songs, and each showed his true “artistry” (shout out to Kara!).

Danny chose the perfect song for his raspy vocals — Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful”; Kris reinvented Kanye West’s “Heartless,” while Adam rocked it out with Aerosmith’s “Cryin.”Simon astutely reminded the audience not to “assume” that Adam was going to make it to the finals. And indeed, tonight the contestants proved it was best to check your assumptions at the door.

Kris Allen sang "Heartless" by Kanye West on American Idol, May 12.Outstanding performance - probably the best from Kris so far, potentially a game-changer.Randy says "It was better than the original!" ( couldn't agree more with Randy), "you're in it to win it, I love it, baby." Kara calls it "bold, brave, fearless." Paula says you sang a song about Simon; Bravo! Simon loved his performance too.

Adam Lambert “Feeling Good” American Idol April 28 Rat Pack Performance

Adam Lambert “Feeling Good” American Idol April 28 Rat Pack Performance

See the Adam Lambert Feeling Good video, lyrics here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered a stellar performance. It was American Idol Rat Pack Night April 28, 2009 with Grammy Award and Academy Award winning singer and actor Jaime Foxx mentoring the contestants as they sang standards from the Rat Pack era, whose core members included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and Joey Bishop.

From the standards songs of this era, our American Idol contestants made their song choices. The Adam Lambert Feeling Good lyrics and song were nwritten by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1965 musical The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd. In 1965, Rat Pack member Sammy Davis Jr. recorded the song for his album The Sammy Davis, Jr. Show.

The Adam Lambert Feeling Good performance raised the bar once again as the singer continues to rack up one standout performance after another. His disco week performance of the Saturday Night Live classic, If I Can’t Have You was also noteworthy The tender side of the performer is equally mesmerizing as the singer dons slicked back hair and a suit, evoking an iconic Elvis Presley look. The singer brought his theatrics to a new level, literally, as he descended the stairs which were illuminated in soft pink light as he wore a white suit. The cheering crowd is nothing new, but tonight the cheering was so spirited one might have thought the singer had won American Idol already.

The judges rendered their assessment one by one.Randy Jackson said he was ‘a little theatrical’ but noted that the singer ‘was always in the zone.’ Kara Dioguardi said in a word, he was ’superb.’ Paula Abdul compared watching him to watching Michael Phelps win Olympic Gold medals.Simon Cowell dryly responded to Randy Jackson by said that complaining that Adam Lambert was theatrical was like complaining a cow is mooing. Hollie Steel Is Britain’s Got Talent Singing Sensation

Hollie Steel Is Britain’s Got Talent Singing Sensation
Meet Hollie Steel, Britain’s Got Talent latest singing sensation. See photos, video and a biography here of the 10-year-old singer with a stunningly mature voice whose brilliant singing was a shock to everyone as she sang ‘I Could Have Dance All Night’ the classic song from the musical My Fair Lady.Hollie Steel, not to be confused with Holly Steel, or anyone else, for that matter, looked every bit like a 10-year-old girl, dressed as a ballerina in a pink and lavender tutu and ballet slippers at the Manchester audition. One might have expected the dulcet tones of a child’s voice. But after the Susan Boyle phenomena, if we have learned anything by now at Britain’s Got Talent, we have learned that looks can be deceiving.

The 10-year-old singer at Britain’s Got Talent, Hollie Steel, played beautifully against expectations. She came out on stage, and began a ballet dance; Simon Cowell was just about to hit the buzzer on the dancing.Suddenly she stopped dancing and began to sing the classic that Audrey Hepburn brought to fame in the 1964 film adaptation of the musical ‘My Fair Lady.’ Forever we will remember the Hollie Steel ‘I could Have Danced all Night’ video. We will watch it and watch her, as did the audience and judges, completely astonished to hear such a powerful soprano voice singing the song and ending on a high note, perfectly placed and perfectly in pitch, that would have challenged an adult professional singer.

The Britain’s Got Talent audience always loves a thrilling surprise and they were on their feet cheering the young singer. The judges were as impressed as they were surprised by the precocious talent.Amanda Holden began the round of superlatives by saying, ‘It’s just ridiculous how much talent you have. The voice that came out of you I was stunned at.’Guest judge Kelly Brook, said, ‘I just didn’t expect that voice to come out of a tiny little thing. Beautiful and lovely.’Piers Morgan chimed in saying, ‘We’ve seen lots of children in this series. I have never heard any of them sing as well as you.’

Simon Cowell began his remarkis by telling Hollie Steel what he didn’t like. He said, ‘I didn’t like what you were wearing because you came over as a typical little girl who wants to be a ballerina. I wasn’t crazy about the song. Then I heard you sing and I think, Hollie, you’ve got a fantastic voice. The fact that you don’t know how good you are is what I really like about you. But this just might just be the tip of the iceberg because I thikn you’re better than that.’

Needless to say, the young Hollie Steel, Britain’s Got Talent audition won her a yes from each judge. We can look forward to Hollie Steel pictures of success. She becomes the next contender to the overnight international star, Scottish singer, Susan Boyle, who sang I Dreamed A Dream so astonishingly, must face if she hopes to win the competition and sing at the Royal Variety Performance and claim the cash prize of £100,000. Fellow child singer, the 12-year-old Shaheen Jafargholi from Wales who sang the Michael Jackson classic, Who’s Loving You, is another strong contender.

Hollie Steel was born in 1998. Her age is 10. Her name is sometimes misspelled as Holly Steel. She is from Accrington Lancashire, England. Her parents are Nina Steel, 37, and Jason Steel 38. Both are NHS audiologists, and as such, they help children and the elderly with hearing problems. She has a brother Joshua Steel, 15, who aspires to a career as a theater actor on West End.

When Hollie Steel was four years old, she contracted a near fatal case of pneumonia, and narrowly escaped having to have part of her lung removed when it became filled with fluid. Instead, she spent three months in Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and underwent surgery that drained the fluid saving both her life and her lung and, her capacity to sing. Not only did she recover, but she began singing at age six. Hollie Steel is now a student at Oakhill College in Whalley, Lancashire. She has performed in musicals including Annie and Joseph And His Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Carrie Ann O'Dell Is Britain's Got Talent Hot Burlesque Stripper

Carrie Ann O'Dell Is Britain's Got Talent Hot Burlesque Stripper

When Piers Morgan asked Britain's Got Talent auditionee Carrie Ann O'Dell out for a drink, she appeared to take it literally. The 28-year-old Brummie stunned Piers and fellow judge Simon Cowell with her sexy burlesque routine in a giant Martini glass. In a performance inspired by American striptease artiste Dita Von Teese, it's perhaps no surprise to learn sexy Carrie was put straight through to the next round.

Sitting in the huge glass, Carrie stripped down to her nude-coloured underwear and writhed around during her risque performance.Drooling Piers was so taken with her eye-opening antics that he invited her for a drink after the show. While Carrie's performance is obviously popular with the opposite sex, the sexy nature of her set may make it a tad unsuitable for the Royal Variety Performance.

Watching the Queen react to seeing a stripper on stage would make for interesting viewing.Carrie has been working as a Dita Von Teese tribute act for several years and performs in cabaret clubs across the country. As well at the Martini glass act, Carrie's sets also include the feather fan dance and the parasol.

Adam Lambert Mad World American Idol Performance April 7

Adam Lambert Mad World American Idol Performance April 7

Watch the Adam Lambert ‘Mad World’ video here. The Season 8 American Idol finalist delivered another standout performance. It was ‘American Idol’ Year They Were Born Wish List night on American Idol Top 8 night on April 7, 2009. Born in 1982, the 27-Year-old Adam Lambert from Hollywood, California picked a hit single from that Year, the Tears for Fears Mad World and, as with every song he covers, he made it his own.

The British rock band saw the single reach No. 3 on the UK singles chart and reach the Top 40 in several countries bringing the band international recognition and popularity. It appeared on the band’s debut album in 1983, The Hurting.

Tears for Fears Mad World lyrics and song were written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith. The song topped the charts in the UK when was covered in 2003 by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko.

Now with the Adam Lambert Tears for Fears performance, the song sees yet another resurgence of popularity. He performed the song in a stripped down and subtle piano-driven orchestral arrangement showcasing the sheer beauty of his voice and the emotional intensity he brought to the song. It led the audience to burst into sporadic screaming and cheering on and off throughout the song.

As he has done with all of his performance, notably the Adam Lambert Ring of Fire cover of the Johnny Cash classic, the Idol hopeful made Tears for Fears Mad World his own.

He was the last performer of the evening and with the program already running overtime, there was time for only one judge’s response. And that was Simon Cowell who said, ‘I think words are unnecessary but I want to give you a standing ovation.” This brought American Idol Season 8 Top 8 to a rousing conclusion.

Previously, the singer has delivered exceptional performances, including the aforementioned Adam Lambert Ring of Fire on Grand Ole Opry week, under the mentorship of country music star Randy Travis, with a sitar driven arrangement evoking a Led Zeppelin/Jeff Buckley Ring of Fire that seemed to fuse Ravi Shankar and The Doors.

He followed with the Adam Lambert Tracks Of My Tears under mentorship of the songwriter, Motown legend Smokey Robinson who said in the televised interview that he was ‘very proud of Adam’s interpretation of the song.’

American Idol Season 8 Top 12 Performance

American Idol Season 8 Top 12 Performance

America already has chosen three of this season's "American Idol"'s Top 12: Alexis Grace, Danny Gokey and Michael Sarver. Wednesday night in a two-hour live event, 12 more of the Top 36 performed songs from Billboard's Hot 100 in hopes of making the cut.

Jasmine Murray — Love Song: I saw Sara Bareilles sing this in concert. Just had to share. This girl is no Sara Bareilles; it was pitchy in parts, but it seems like a good song choice. She’s a good performer. Hmmm. Overall, I’m disappointed.

Matt Giraud — Viva la Vida: Love Coldplay. This guy has potential, but I’m not sure he’s Top 12 material. The judges are on my page.

Jeanine Vailes — This Love: I want to come back in my next life with her legs. That is all. I like the song, and I like how she makes it her own, but it’s just not working for her.

PSA: The judges complain that the contestants are choosing the wrong songs so why don’t the producers allow the judges to HELP THEM CHOOSE THE RIGHT SONGS!? It would make the show SO much better.

Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle (or whatever he’s going by this week) — Living Without You: I really don’t know what to make of this guy. If he can sing, he’s sure is trying awfully hard to hide it. Randy calls it entertaining. I think that’s being generous. Paula calls him memorable. Perhaps.

Allison Iraheta — Alone: One of my favorite songs; pretty ambitious for a 16-year-old. Why am I doubtful she can bring it? Okay so that’s… wow. I’m pleasantly surprised. She has a very individual sound. I love it when Randy says “blew it out the box”. I always want to say that but I could never pull it off.

Kris Allen — Man in the Mirror: What a cutie. But can we ban all Michael Jackson songs from this competition from now on? Kthanksbai. Okay so yeah, he’s a really good performer. I’m liking this, Michael Jackson and all. He comes into his own towards the end. I don’t remember him in Hollywood so I’m not sure what Kara’s talking about. Interesting, judges are divided. Glad to know I’m not totally off base.

Megan Joy Corkrey — Put Your Records On: Great song. She’s adorable. Feeling optimistic. Oh this isn’t quite what I was hoping for. I dunno. Paula loves her. Simon’s onto something — it got shouty at the end. And yikes, Megan’s saying she rocked it in that part. Now you know I don’t like it when the contestants argue with the judges. I’m with Simon — I want her to get voted thru, but she didn’t nail it tonight.

Matt Breitzke — If You Could Only See: Great song. Awww, he’s like a big teddy bear. I want to like him, but I’m afraid this is just really good karaoke. Is it just me, or is Simon nicer this year?

Jesse Langseth — Betty Davis Eyes: She’s gorgeous. Now let’s see if she can sing. And she CAN. I’m liking this chick. But next time she needs to finish knitting her sweater before appearing on national TV. Was she just trying not to yawn? Yeah, I’m with Randy on the 5-note range. Nevermind the part about Simon being nicer this year. Telling people they are forgettable is so rude. Ugh.

Kai Kalama — What Becomes of the Broken Hearted: Eh. He’s good, I guess. I’m too distracted by that mop on his head to be objective about the performance. There’s potential there, but I’m not sure he’s Top 12 material.

Mishavonna Henson — Drops of Jupiter: I’m always intrigued by those who are cut and come back to get through the following year. That was strange. There were parts that were all there and there were other parts that were really baaaaad. The judges keep saying she’s a good singer, but there were parts of that song that were very off.

Adam Lambert — Satisfaction: Oh yeah. Awesome song. I LURV THE STONES. Yes I realize he just said it’s his MOTHER’S favorite band. I’m 36 going on 50. This guy has mad talent, but I’ve always found him a bit uncomfortable to watch, and tonight is no different. Yes, thank you Simon! “There were some parts that were excruciatingly bad and parts that were brilliant.” That pretty much sums it up for me too. But I can’t see NOT voting him through. He’s got amazing potential, once he drops that affected stage persona.

What DID Happen to Bucky Covington?

Bucky Covington on American Idol

Tonight on “American Idol”, Brent Keith sang the country song “Hick Town”, trying to show fans who he really is and take them back to his roots. Although the performance received pretty good reviews from Randy, Kara, and of course Paula, Simon wasn’t sold. Paula had compared Keith to Josh Gracin, Bo Bice and Bucky Covington, in the end saying “look what happened to Bucky Covington.” This statement prompted Simon Cowell to say, “What DID happen to Bucky Covington”, and then went on to say that Paula’s statement said it perfectly, calling Keith’s rendition of “Hick Town” “forgettable”. New American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is engaged! "Kara DioGuardi and former school teacher turned general contractor Mike McCuddy were engaged on December 8th while on holiday in Mexico," her rep tells Entertainment Tonight."My Bra" -- slang in the breast cancer community for the word "friend" -- was written by Kara DioGuardi (Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani) and James Poyser (Common, Lauryn Hill). Francine and Nicola Gleadall - X Factor Twins

Francine and Nicola Gleadall - X Factor Twins
Meet Francine and Nicola Gleadall, the sexy twin sisters who are stirring up all kinds of trouble on this season of X Factor. The girls, who were arrested the last time they sang in front of a large crowd, are also infatuated with X Factor judge, Simon Cowell.Francine and Nicola Gleadall are stealing the limelight on this season of X Factor. The blond twins have said they are really into Simon Cowell, and even though he is old enough to be their father, they find him super sexy.

But it seems these girls have some people skills to work on, because just being hot can’t get you everything. The sexy twins have singing experience, but it isn’t exactly a success story. Two years ago, the girls preformed at half-time during a Sheffield Wednesday vs. Barnsley match. Booked under the name Twin, they sang their debut single, a cover of Slade’s Cum On Feel The Noize. The crowd was not receptive to the girls, and began heckling and booing. Francine and Nicola fought back, and went on a foul-mouthed rant, directing their four letter words towards the crowd. Police were called, and the twins were arrested on public disorder offences. Let’s hope Francine and Nicola Gleadall’s second shot at fame is a more peaceful one.

Faryl Smith is In The Final Of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

Faryl Smith
Faryl Smith is a 12-year-old opera singer who’s made it to the finals of ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ Simon Cowell thinks she is “super talented.”Faryl Smith sang Sarah McLachlan’s song ‘Angel’ and brought the house down. You can see the performance below. Now Faryl will face plumber Andrew Muir and a few others in the finals on Saturday night for the chance at $200,000.

“When you enter a competition like this, you pray to find someone like you. You are literally one in a million,” judge Simon Cowell… told Smith after she performed the Sarah McLachlan ballad, “Angel,” Thursday. “Anyone hearing you for the first time tonight should remember this occasion because you have the most incredible future ahead of you.”

Faryl Smith is from Kettering, Northamptonshire and although she looks much older, Smith is only 12-years-old. Her mom is a hairdresser and her dad a builder. They may both get to take a little time off after the show ends. The Daily Mail reports “sources close to [Simon] Cowell admit he is ready to take her under his wing and make her the same global success as he has with X Factor queen Leona Lewis.” Cowell has already started by setting her up with “X Factor” tutor Yvie Burnett for singing lessons.

‘Got Talent’ is not Faryl’s first time performing on television. In December, she sang on the BBC kids’ show TMI. It was her prior performances that gave her the opportunity to meet her idol Katherine Jenkins. Many compare her to Charlotte Church, but it’s Jenkins she would like to emulate.

American Idol: David Cook Vs David Archuleta Showdown

David Cook Vs David Archuleta Showdown
"You came out here to win and what we have witnessed was a knockout," said judge Simon Cowell, making it pretty clear David Archuleta should be the next American Idol.Make no mistake about it, both Davids were good. David Cook performed admirably but Simon put it best....Archuleta came out for the kill.Archuleta entered the competition as the winner of the Junior Singers competition on Star Search. Archuleta started singing when he was six because he was inspired by Les Misérables 10th-anniversary concert: Live at the Royal Albert Hall video (starring Colm Wilkinson, Lea Salonga and others) he was watching, "That musical is what started all of this." He started performing as an entertainer at ten years old when he participated in the Utah Talent Competition singing "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton; he received a standing ovation, and won the kid division.

Archuleta has maintained an impressive fan base throughout the season. It can be argued that he has the better voice. Cook, however, is a good singer but he's also a rocker who has received praise for his originality. Along with Chris Daughtry, David Cook is very probably among the show's most original contestants thus far.Idol betting was brisk throughout the week heading into Tuesday night's show. At least a million dollars was anticipated to have been bet on the show since the start of the season.

Who will Win American Idol? David Cook or David Archuleta? Here is a recap.

Round 1:

Cook sing “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

All the judges thought he was in fine voice, with Cowell calling his performance phenomenal.

Archuleta sing “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.”

Randy Jackson called flawless.

“Taking everything into account, Round 1 goes to Archuleta,” said Cowell.

Round 2:

Cook sings “Dream Big”

Archuleta sings “In This Moment”

Cowell thought Archuleta chose the better song and gave the round to him.

Round 3:

Cook sings “The World I Know.

Jackson said it was the perfect song for him

Cowell pointed out it wasn’t the kind of showstopper that would win the contest. “You should have sung ‘Hello’ or ‘Billie Jean’,” Cowell said, referring to songs that had won Cook praise earlier in the season.

Archuleta sings “Imagine”

“Tonight I think we’ve witnessed one of the great finals,” said Cowell. “Here’s the difference in my opinion: you came out here tonight to win and what we have witnessed is a knockout.”
