Stephanie Jacobsen Battlestar Galactica Razor's New Star
While the TV-Movie event Battlestar Galactica: Razor features most of the familiar actors and characters fans know from the series, the woman at the center of it all is new. Australian actress Stephanie Jacobsen plays Kendra Shaw, the lead character in Razor, which focuses on the Battlestar Pegasus.
The story begins during Galactica's second season, as Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber) adjusts to his new position as commander of Pegasus, and decides to make crewmember Kendra his XO. But much of the story also takes place earlier, as we see Kendra assigned to Pegasus and her point of view of what happened when the Cylons attacked the colonies and how Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) reacted. IGN took part in a recent conference call with Jacobsen to find out what it was like joining the Galactica story in such a noteworthy way.
Describing the traits she liked about her character, who does her best to mask any outward emotion, Jacobsen replied "Her complexity. What she was for me was I guess just almost sterile. And I think as an actor when parts of your journey is always actor things and revealing human emotion, to sort of go against all of those instincts, pull them right back and cover them up was an enormous challenge for me and it was actually very, very fulfilling."
