American Idol Girls Still Better Than The Boys!
Last night, the Top 12 guys got their turn, and tonight, the women are up on American Idol. Let's see how they do during 1960s week:Host Ryan Seacrest notes that the flu has hit the finalists hard, but "the show must go on." He asks Simon how he feels when a contestant "spars" with him, and he says he likes it.Seacrest revealed that some of the top twenty-four contestants had been hit hard by the flu bug.
Kristy Lee Cook sang “Rescue Me.” Randy Jackson said, “It wasn’t your best performance.” Paula Abdul said, “Being sick, being the first one, that’s a double whammy, but having said that, don’t let that ever get in the way of your shine and your performance and what you emote.” Simon Cowell said, “The song didn’t suit you. It’s a song really designed for someone who is going to belt out a song. I thought your performance was robotic.”
Joanne Borgella sang “I Say A Little Prayer.” Randy Jackson said, “It felt like your voice was just a little shaky.” Paula Abdul said, “I liked it, I didn’t love it.” Simon Cowell said, “What you just did there was a very average cabaret version of a cabaret song.”
Alaina Whitaker sang “I Love You Today More Than Yesterday.” Randy Jackson said, “Season seven is turning out to be the year of the young ones, man.” Paula Abdul said, “You had the best ending that I’ve heard on that song.” Simon Cowell said, “If you can make a song as awful as that song ok, then when you’ve got a decent song you’re going to be great.”
Amanda Overmyer sang “Baby, Please Don’t Go.” Randy Jackson said, “I loved that, man.” Paula Abdul said, “Amanda, I just love everything that you do.” Simon Cowell said, “I think that was a little bit all over the place at times.”
Amy Davis sang “Where The Boys Are.” Randy Jackson said, “There were just a lot of pitch problems there.” Paula Abdul said, “I don’t know if it was the most engaging song for you to sing.” Simon Cowell said, “You look great, but you didn’t sound great.”
Brooke White sang “So Happy Together.” Randy Jackson said, “The front part of the song wasn’t good, but the back part you started getting your slaying on.” Paula Abdul said, “What this competition is about is originality, and that’s what I love about you.” Simon Cowell said, “It was very you, but I’m just struggling a little bit with the relevance.”
Alexandrea Lushington sang “Spinning Wheel.” Randy Jackson said, “You blew the doors off that.” Paula Abdul said, “I saw more confidence in your performance than any performance tonight so far.” Simon Cowell said, “It reminded me of some terrible sixties musical. I didn’t think the vocals were great.”
Kady Malloy sang “A Groovy Kind Of Love.” Randy Jackson said, “Never quite really got there for me.” Paula Abdul said, “I want to see the life of you more.” Simon Cowell said, “That was like ‘Night Of The Living Dead.’”
Asia’h Epperson sang “Piece Of My Heart.” Randy Jackson said, “I was impressed.” Paula Abdul said, “You had some really good moments in that song.” Simon Cowell said, “For me, it was my favorite of the night.”
Ramiele Malubay sang “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me.” Randy Jackson said, “Very classy, almost like a pro.” Paula Abdul said, “You’re a force to be reckoned with.” Simon Cowell said, “Tonight, you out sung every single person.”
Syesha Mercado sang “Tobacco Road.” Randy Jackson said, “You definitely, definitely can sing.” Paula Abdul said, “Syesha, way to go.” Simon Cowell said, “You are probably one of the most talented girls in this competition.”
