Diablo Cody Is Writer of ‘Juno’
Meet Diablo Cody, a.k.a. Brook Busey-Hunt, a former stripper who wrote the new hit comedy, “Juno”.Diablo Cody is the writer of “Juno”, a comedy about a girl with an unplanned pregnancy and the decisions she makes with regard to her baby. Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman play the adoptive parents. “Juno” came out in limited release in the US on December 5, 2007.Diablo Cody was born on June 14, 1978 in Chicago, so her age is 29. She moved to Minneapolis after graduating from college with a degree in media studies. She began writing online with a blog called “Red Secretary”, telling stories of her own life, but from the perspective of the Belarussian secretary she pretended to be. She followed up with the “Darling Girl” blog about her adventures “living in sin” with now ex-husband Jonny Hunt.
Then Cody’s life took a turn. On a whim at a Minneapolis strip club’s amateur night, she performed, and although she lost, she decided she wanted to strip. She had just moved from Chicago, and she was fairly anonymous in her new city.“I thought if there was ever a time to strip, it was just the right time. I was almost too old but still young enough, and I didn’t have to worry about running into friends and family.”She started as a sort of experiment or anthropology study - she’d planned on dancing only a few times.
With her customers from the strip joint, an adult store called Sex World where she was a peepshow girl, and the people who called her during her hours as a phone-sex operator providing constant fodder, Cody started a blog called “Pussy Ranch” and then wrote a book about the experience called “Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper”.
