Fred Simmons Appears In Late Night with Conan O'Brien
I'm watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien and closing out his line up of guests was an invitee that struck me as a little odd. It took me a good minute to figure out that this was a first promotional bit for Paramount Vantage's release of The Foot Fist Way - the Jody Hill directed, low budget comedy that played out at Sundance back in 2006. The coup was confirmed when the film's website popped up.
Taking a page from being in character a la Borat, Danny McBride awkwardly presented Fred Simmons in his Tae Kwon Do garb. I'd gather that only one percent will figure out that this is a movie promo campaign - very few have seen his acting debut in All the Real Girls, and I'd be surprised if those who have seen The Heartbreak Kid and Hot Rod in 07' will put two and two together.
Somewhere post festival life of the film, PVantage picked up the rights but kept theatrical plans hush hush. An April 4th release is set and as mentioned before in our Top 100 must see films McBride has a ton of films in release this year: commencing with Drillbit Taylor, The Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder and ending with Turkey in the Straw. Look for the official trailer & one sheet to cometh soon.
