Jon McLaughlin Performs At Oscars

Songwriter and Anderson native Jon McLaughlin is among the performers at the 80th Academy Awards.McLaughlin performed “So Close,” a song he performed for the soundtrack of Disney’s “Enchanted.” The song is written by Alan Menken with lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.So Close” is one of three songs nominated from the musical about a Disney fairy tale colliding with modern day New York.
Amy Adams sings “Happy Working Song” from “Enchanted.”Also from “Enchanted” will be “That’s How You Know,” sung by Kristin Chenoweth and Marlon Saunders. Both are written by Menken and Schwartz.Rounding out the musical performances, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova sung their nominated song, “Falling Slowly,” from the motion picture “Once,” and Jamia Simone Nash will perform “Raise It Up,” from “August Rush,” with the IMPACT Repertory Theatre of Harlem, headed by Jamal Joseph, who shares the song’s music and lyric credit with Charles Mack and Tevin Thomas.
