Paulina Porizkova: Top Model's Newest Judge
Paulina Porizkova doesn't mind being the "mean" judge on "America's Next Top Model." In fact, she prefers it."I much prefer to be Simon [Cowell] than Paula [Abdul]," Porizkova told the Daily News. "No offense to Paula but, yeah, offense to Paula; I'm sorry, but she needs to snap out of it. When I watch ["American Idol"], I don't care what Paula says, I'm just looking at her [and thinking], 'What weird thing is she going to come up with next?' You have no respect for her opinion."
Porizkova joined the "Top Model" this season amid controversy surrounding statements she made about the show being "unrealistic" - which she stands by - but Porizkova said she would much rather be a part of this show than, ahem, another."I'm very happy I'm not working on a show that's called 'The Next Supermodel' or something like that because then I'd feel like we were lying," said Porizkova. "The supermodel is dead, but 'America's Next Top Model' has a really good thing: its own niche. You become 'America's Next Top Model' and that's who you are and that's something."
A new episode of "Top Model" premieres Wednesday at 8.Porizkova said she's a "bad mama," compared to host Tyra Banks because, unlike Banks, she chose favorites among the contestants right off the bat."There was one girl, I can't name names, but when we were at a party and all the girls were gathered around me and were just chatting, one girl would ask me questions about modeling and then would completely look away and pay no attention because she was so focused on who was coming through the door," said Porizkova."I was thinking, 'That's not going to work for you, honey'; when people notice you can't pay attention to them because you're looking for the next, better thing, you ain't going to do very well. So I don't wish her any luck!"
