Sally Hawkins Is Happy-Go-Lucky!
Sally Hawkins who won a Silver Bear (best actress) award at the German film festival for her work in the movie Happy-Go-Lucky.She is an up and coming actress who already has a long career on stage and in movies that have thus far been under the radar. Now she is breaking into the big time on screen.
Hawkins was born in London on April 27th, 1976, the daughter of two writers. Her mother and father were Jacqui & Colin Hawkins who wrote children’s books. After high school, she graduated in 1998 from RADA (the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in England. She then made a name for herself as a comedic actress in numerous stage performances including “Much Ado of Nothing” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Sally’s early movie filmography includes “The Painted Veil”, “Layer Cake”, “All or Nothing”, “Vera Drake” and “Waz.” Her 2007 film was a Woody Allen production called “Cassandra’s Dream.” But my favorite is “Fingersmith” which features her undressing and in bed with other women. Now she has broken through into the upper echelon of big screen actresses with her award winning performance in “Happy-Go-Lucky.”
