Jason Rae Is Dead
Jason Rae, husband of singer Corinne Bailey Rae, was found dead in a drug-overdose case. Corinne Bailey Rae has always insisted that she has never taken drugs, but Mr.Rae, a 31-year-old saxophonist with the Haggis Horns, was discovered at a flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds on Saturday by police called to the scene.A 32-year-old man was arrested under suspicion of supplying drugs and freed on bail.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on the body but the results were inconclusive, police said, adding that they were awaiting toxicology reports.Joson’s band describe themselves on their Myspace page as “an eight-piece live funk extravaganza” who combine funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with jazz virtuosity.The group had performed with Corinne Bailey Rae, as well as other artists including Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Nightmares On Wax.
Corinne Bailey Rae received critical acclaim for her self-titled album in 2006, which featured the hit single ‘Put Your Records On’.The album reached number one of the UK charts and sold over a million copies in the US.This year she was recognised at the Grammy awards for her contribution to the record that won album of the year Herbie Hancock’s ‘River: The Joni Letters‘.
