Mandi Hamlin Is Detained By The TSA
Mandi Hamlin was detained by the TSA when her nipple ring set off the metal detectors at the airport. She is now being represented by publicity-hungry lawyer Gloria Allred who is demanding an apology and investigation.Mandi Hamlin was attempting to board a plane flying from Lubbock to Dallas when a Transportation Security Administration agent scanned her by hand and the device went off when it passed her chest. This occurred after she had already passed through a larger metal detector with no problems.
After explaining she was wearing nipple rings, the female TSA agent called over a male agent who said she would have to remove her piercings. Hamlin asked in vain to show her piercings in private. More male agents joined in on the situation and Hamlin was forced to remove the jewelry from her breasts. One piercing was especially difficult, and she had to use pliers.“I wouldn’t wish this experience upon anyone,” Mandi Hamlin said at a news conference. “My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way.”
Hamlin maintains the male TSA agents were laughing at her, and then allowed her to board the plane, even though she was wearing a belly button ring. Hamlin filed a complaint, but customer service backed the TSA agents. Gloria Allred is singing a different tune. Not only is Allred demanding an apology from the TSA, she is insisting upon it or is considering legal action. Gloria is also demanding a civil rights investigation.“The conduct of TSA was cruel and unnecessary,” Allred wrote. “The last time that I checked a nipple was not a dangerous weapon.”
