Richard Widmark, the actor famous for playing a psychopathic killer in ‘Kiss of Death’ died Monday at his home in Connecticut. He was 93-years-old.Richard Widmark was born in Minnesota on December 26, 1914. He grew up in Illinois where he went to both high school and college. He studied drama at Lake Forest College and after two years went on to teach acting classes until finally moving to New York to perform on Broadway.

Widmarks’ acting career was long-lived, making 60 films in 50 years. He mostly played the “bad guy” after becoming an overnight sensation with his first villain role of Tommy Udo. Richard was even nominated for an Oscar with his portrayal of the gangster.Film critics described Widmark’s performance in the film as one of the scariest ever seen on screen.After earning a name for himself in other notable movies like ‘Slattery’s Hurricane’ and ‘Panic in the Streets,’ Widmark went on to star alongside John Wayne in ‘The Alamo.'Widmark is survived by his wife Susan Blanchard, the third wife of Henry Fonda, after losing his first wife, Jean Hazlewood, in 1997. There were married 35 years before she passed away. He has one daughter.
