Sally Struthers Stars In “Steel Magnolias”

Sally Struthers
Sally Struthers had a sex scene with Jack Nicholson (in Five Easy Pieces), was a regular on a recent critical fave TV show (um, that would be Gilmore Girls) and, in the past 23 years, has continually had roles in regional theater and a few on Broadway. But still, she's mainly known for two things: playing Gloria on the iconic TV show All in the Family; and appearing for years on cable and late-night commercials in which she promoted the humanitarian Christian Children's Fund and the International Correspondence School, which sent college degrees to your home.If it were up to her, she'd be most remembered for making people laugh. Struthers is that rare interviewee who continually laughs and closes the conversation by telling a joke -- and a truly funny one.

Sally Struthers stars as Truvy, the beauty shop owner, in the Casa Mañana reproduction of "Steel Magnolias" which is currently playing in Fort Worth, Texas (it ends tomorrow).Sally Struthers gave a witty interview to the Star Telegram. Sally says "the reward of cash is always welcome" when comparing on-stage and off-stage acting, but says that working onstage to a live audience reaction is priceless.Sally Struthers will be doing a lot of theater work this season. After finishing with "Steel Magnolias," she will play Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Ogunquit Playouse in Maine, then will reprise her role as Miss Hannigan in "Annie". After that, she will be going on a 20th anniversary road tour with "Nunsense" as Mother Superior.
