'Extreme' Episode Featuring Giunta Family of Maynard

In late February, the Giunta family of Maynard was the subject of intense scrutiny as the crew from ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” swarmed in and rebuilt the family home. The family was chosen because Paul Giunta had suffered serious head injuries in a car accident almost two years ago. After being discharged from the hospital, he had lived in Marlborough with his parents because the home in Maynard wasn’t built to deal with his handicap.

The family was shuttled off to Disney for a week and their small ranch-style house came down in a rush of excavators and noise. Six days later, the Giuntas [Renee, Paul and their three kids] came home to a spiffy new house, accessible to all.
