Jeff Archuleta is David’s Father

Jeff Archuleta is the dad of American Idol runner-up David Archuleta.Jeff became known to the public when he received the “stage dad” stigma while David was competing on “American Idol.” Producers of the hit show banned Jeff from coming backstage after he allegedly “badgered producers, the band, vocal coaches and even other contestants.” Now, Jeff is back in the news as People reports he will be joining David and the other top five guy contestants on the road this summer.

Jeff Archuleta was born July 6, 1961 which makes his age 46. Jeff married Xiomara Archuleta and the couple had David in Miami on December 28, 1990. When David was 13, the family moved to Salt Lake City and currently live in Murray, Utah.Jeff flat out denies the stage dad rumors, which reportedly go back to David’s “Star Search” days, and insists he is just David’s “music consultant.”

“I’m definitely involved with my son, and I encourage him, but I think that’s a lot different from forcing and threatening and all that stuff. There was absolutely no truth in any of the stories about me yelling at David, making him cry or withholding water from him. That was crazy!”

Jeff Archuleta is a jazz musician and David cites his father’s music collection as a major influence on his career. Jeff has worked as a boom operator on such films as “The Five,” “Skills Like This” and “Looking For Sunday.” He has also served as a production assistant on other sets.
