Olivia Newton-John Marries John Easterling

Olivia Newton-John and John Easterling were married this past week. See photos, video and her biography here. The couple surprised guests with a wedding instead of the 4th of July party they were expecting.Olivia Newton-John, 59, was married for a second time in the surprise wedding. She and John Easterling, 49, were married at her home in Malibu, California. Their guests were expecting a 4th of July barbecue but found instead that they were attending the couple’s wedding. There was excitement when a brush fire broke out in a nearby canyon - but the ceremony went on without further incident. Newton-John and Easterling began dating last year. She divorced her first husband, Matt Lattanzi, in the mid-1990s after he had an affair.

Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England on September 26, 1948. She will turn 60 this year. She was the youngest child of Brin Newton-John, a professor, and her German-born mother, Irene Born, who was the daughter of a Nobel Prize winning physicist, Max Born. Although she came from a decidedly academic background, Olivia’s prevailing interests were music and singing. She has an older brother, Hugh, and a sister, Rona.

When Olivia Newton-John was 5-years old, the family moved to Melbourne, Australia. At the age of 15, she started an all-girl group they named Sol Four. Later she entered a talent TV show and won a trip to London. It wasn’t long before she was appearing on local daytime TV shows and weekly pop programs in Australia. Olivia made her first single with Decca Records in 1966, “Till You Say You’ll Be mine.”

Olivia Newton-John’s debuted her U.S. album in 1973 on MCA Records - “Let Me Be There.” She was awarded the “Most Promising Female Vocalist” by the Academy of Country Music, and received a Grammy Award as Best Country Vocalist. In 1975, Olivia headed to America where her next album “Have You Never Been Mellow” had the #1 title song. The second single from the album, “Please Mr. Please” went to #3. Throughout the 70’s, Olivia Newton-John continued with a long list of hit songs. She had her own TV special on ABC called “A Very Special Olivia Newton-John.”
