Melissa Lawson is Nashville Star Winner

The country version of American idol has ended this season and the winner of Nashville star is Melissa Lawson! She certainly deserves the top prize as she really seemed to have the best pure country voice and delivered each week without fail. She outlasted Gabe Garcia (many will be screaming that Gabe was robbed) and small town Iowa girl Shawn Mayer was eliminated early and finished third.

This really is of little surprise and Melissa Lawson seems like the very safe choice by the fans of country music. Refried Musings has this, "I can honestly say that I pegged this lady from the beginning. I know that it’s easy to say that in hindsight, and for all you know, I could be completely lying about all this stuff, but truth be told, I really did believe that she was the best out of all the competitors from the beginning."

As Gabe Garcia and Melissa Lawson waited on stage, Billy Ray Cyrus announced, “The new Nashville Star is Melissa Lawson.” Melissa said, “It is not just me that just won this competition. It is everyone of you that voted for me. We won.” To close out the show, Melissa performed “What If It All Goes Right,” the song that will become her first single.
