Justin Levens and Wife Sarah McLean-Levens, Found Dead
Mixed martial arts fighter Justin Levens, 28, and his wife Sarah McLean-Levens, 25, were found shot to death in their Laguna Niguel condo in California. The bodies were found in bed yesterday afternoon by the woman's mother, who called 911, Sheriff's spokesman Jim Armomino said.
According to TMZ, which first reported the news, cops are investigating their deaths as an apparent murder-suicide. Meanwhile, Lt. Mike Jansen says further information would be released later today. As a mixed martial arts fighter, Justin Levens fought for the Southern California Condors of the International Fight League. He started training at Marco Ruas' Vale Tudo academy in Orange County, and the forceful light heavyweight discovered a penchant for explosive action. Levens had a career record of 9-8 and fought in several different MMA leagues, including the IFL, WEC and UFC.
Justin Levens' first fight and victory was against Hector Carrilo in the 2004 TC 3 event in New Mexico. Luck was on his side as he continued to prevail in several bouts against Jeff Dowmam, Mitch Nester, Eber Saulido, Tosh Cook, Tony Lopez and Jorge Oliveira.
Following his seventh victory, he lost to Scott Smith in WEC 18 - Unfinished Business in Lemoore, California in 2006. In that same year, he tried to redeem himself in UFC 59 - Reality Check but lost via submission triangle choke to Evan Tanner, the UFC fighter, who, in a morbid twist, was found dead in the desert back in September. He lost again for the third time during UFC Ultimate Fight Night 5 at the hands of Jorge Santiago before defeating Justin Hawes at WEC 24 - Full Force.
