Chrisette Michele is a beautiful R&B singer who already has one a Grammy. This week her album, Epiphany, is the best selling album in the US.Chrisette Michele is a gorgeous R&B singer who is fairly new to the music scene but is already reaping success. Having won a Grammy, Chrisette is also celebrating having the number one album this week.
“Epiphany” sold 83,000 albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan. However the album also set a record for the least number of copies sold by a new album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart. It is a slow week for record sales, the soundtrack to “Hannah Montana: The Movie” (Disney) is in second place with 82,000, and Ciara’s new “Fantasy Ride” is No. 3 with 81,000.
Chrisette Michele Payne was born on December 8, 1982 making her age 26. She is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter who is signed on the Island Def Jam Music Group.Michele was born in Central Islip, New York, but she grew up in Patchogue. Her parents worked as deacons at their church, and their influence inspired her writing on her Def Jam debut album. She is known for singing in a jazz style and has been compared to Sarah Vaughn, Jill Scott, Macy Gray, Erykah Badu, and Ella Fitzgerald.
In 2009 she won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for her song “Be OK”, which was released as the third single off of her debut album, I Am. I Am was released on June 18, 2007, and did quite well producing four singles.Chrisette Michele’s second album, Epiphany was released on May 5, 2009 and went to number one in its first week of sales.
