Bret Michaels Injured During Tony Awards (Video)
Bret Michaels was injured during the live broadcast of the 63th Annual Tony Awards 2009 as his performance on stage concluded. The band performed alongside the cast of Rock of Ages, a hair-metal musical which received for five Tony Award nominations (and also features music from Warrant, Whitesnake and Quiet Riot). At the end of the performance Bret Michaels was hit by a part of the stage set which, as it was lowering, him hit him on the head.He didn’t break his nose, and still “had a blast performing,” his rep told People. Host Neil Patrick Harris even opened his monologue with a reference to Michaels’ mishap: “Gives a whole new meaning to headbanging!”
According to a Tony Awards spokeswoman, Christina Stejskal, the injury on stage occurred because he “missed his mark.”Here is a photo and video of Bret Michaels, Poison and the Rock of Ages cast on stage shortly before the accident.
