Catherine Banner Is A Well-known Writer
Catherine Banner is a writer who is being called the next J.K. Rowling.Banner’s first novel, “The Eyes Of A King,” hit book shelves last week. It is the first work in a trilogy for the author and there is already talk of the book being made into a movie. Banner seems to be taking it all in stride.“It’s a real honor being compared to J.K. Rowling and pretty daunting.”
Catherine Banner was born in 1989 and currently resides in Cambridge, England. She first began writing her debut novel at age 14. Catherine would write in any spare time she could find, including weekends, after school, and a few sentences here and there while in the back of the classroom. From this, the main character, Leo North and the fictional universe Malonia was born.
After completing the novel, Catherine went to a book festival in Cambridge where she approached a literary agent. The agent asked her to send him her work and now she published is a published author with a novel that went to #7 on the Amazon.co.uk Children’s Bestseller List and #30 overall.“I think The Eyes of a King really began with the voice of the narrator, Leo. It came to me so clearly that I wanted to write it down and try and capture that voice somehow.”
Catherine has managed to capture the voice twice, having already completed the second book in the trilogy. The third and final book is slated to be done next summer. For Banner, the characters are the key aspect to her writing.“But the most important thing that I try to do is to write about characters that I really care about, and leave out anything that doesn’t come from the heart.”Catherine will attend Cambridge University in the fall where she plans to be an English major. It also sounds like she has ideas in mind for a fourth book, which she describes as “quite different.”
