Billy Bob Thornton Is The Next Freddy Krueger

Here’s one for the rumour bank: In the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, Billy Bob Thornton might pull on the striped sweater of Freddy Krueger:Providing a follow up to the report stating that Nightmare on Elm producer Brad Fuller wants a new Freddy Krueger for the remake, latest news concerning the casting of the iconic kids killer proposed that Billy Bob Thornton is being considered to take the part. This speculation allegedly has been sparked by Krueger’s original depicter himself, Robert Englund.
Talking to a late night radio show Loveline in promotion of his horror comedy “Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer”, the 61-year-old confessed that he has heard talks about the possibility of Thornton to slip on the red and black-stripped sweater for the role. Despite Englund’s remark on the subject, Thornton’s possible involvement should still be considered as a rumor, especially since no word is coming out from Platinum Dunes.
After several hours in makeup, Billy Bob could certainly look the part of the serial killer who attacks only in dreams. Still, every time I hear Billy Bob speak, with or without a Southern drawl intact, it still reminds me of his Slingblade character. Could Freddy Kreuger ever work the phrase, “I like them French fried potaters,” into the script? If so, I could definitely dig it.
